hey dchisholm, i was wondering if you've thought to trademark your characters yet?

freaking stunning!

Trademarks can get pretty pricy. It's worth it though, especially for the design of your title, etc. As far as copywrites go, those are relatively cheap and all you really have to do is send it a copy of your comic to the Library of Congress with the appropriate forms and a check.

Excellent as always. Nice progression to the story, well written excellent art. Still need to order my copies though. May wait a bit and try to save a little on shipping.

Love the "dinosaur" page good use of a splash page there.

This is the coolest thing i've ever seen and i'm not even a huge joker fan:joker: This reminds me of this idea i've had for a cool sick marvel dc crossover. Imagine wolverine getting mixed up with some case about a missing girl and gets captured by Joker. When Batman finds him Joker's been lethaly torturing logan (like ripping out his intestines and crazy stuff and might not normally do because it would kill to quickly) and then watching him mend up and taping the whole thing. Then he takes off thanking him for the endless hours of enjoyment.

yeah. i will get on that after i have a few issues out....technically your work is copyrighted at the moment of creation, but you won't have much of a legal leg to stand on at that point.

Hey man i'm loving the utah story! Dude i was watching tv and this movie i've never heard of comes on with David Arquette and Johnathan Jackson called Riding the Bullet and it was jost so crazy It made me think of your story I only got to watch about 20 minutes and it had already started but this kids moms in the hospital so hitches a ride to there and gets picked up by arquette who is this whacked out guy in an old car king of like the one in your story and the guy throws out random riddles and stories that don't make sense. So I was thinking man someone stole that guys idea and tweaked it so i looked it up and it's based on a story by Stephen King. I mean it's not just like yours (the little i saw) but it was cool and weird and reminded of your story.

By the way the wolverine idea was prompted by how crazy that joker you drew looks, i mean you draw a really insane looking joker:)

In the mean time the other legal option is to do a poor man's patent, which essentially consists of mailing a copy of your work to yourself and never, ever, ever opening it.

my comic is the cover story for local magazine SLUG! sweet.

That's awesome dude, congratulations, keep us updated on how many get sold. It will be interesting to see.

whaaaaa?

thanks, man!

Ya man I had this idea where all the stories took place around a hot dog vendor, but the Vendor was actually the devil..okay so it's not like he's the harbringer of doom but it's kinda similar.

mine's way simpler. it would probably be just one issue, maybe not even a full issue. unless, somehow i tied it into a larger story, but i can't see how i'd do that!

Dchisholm, really awesome interview! When you were talking about the way you think of stories, it really reminded me of the way Stephen King thinks of his stories.

I have to know, are you planning on collecting all the comics of Let's Go To Utah into a TPB or hardcover? I have a nasty habit of not keeping up with monthly comics and found the only way for me to really get into a story is to read it straight through. And after reading about how much of the story is influenced by the desert and the west, I'm really hyped to read it (I'm a huge fan of the landscape and tend to include it in my concept designs. And No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood are two of my favorite movies.)

I've been trying to avoid spoilers in this thread, but I still have to check it out every now and then just to look at the art work.

DC: The other major influence is the movies of the Coen Brothers. There are aspects of just about every single Coen movie thrown into my comic. I love their characters so much.

I was gonna mention the Coen influences I noticed! Like the Ice Scraper and the Brothers.
