Insiders claim to have seen final hardware. The Broadway CPU is allegedly in the 750 CL line, a continuation of the 750 GX series. IBM may be working on a revised Broadway chip with a lower clock speed for a future Nintendo handheld — presumably one that plays GameCube discs.

I for one hope this isn't true. I hope it's a long, long time before the Nintendo DS is replaced by the next Nintendo hand-held.

i understand what your trying to say grayghost. but i think nintendo needs it gameboy brand back. maybe they can incorporate the ds into it.

You can't just lower the clockspeed of the GPU and stick in GC games and be like, yo it will play GC games just like the Gamecube. Isn't the Revo GPU identical to the gamecube GPU, it's the Revo CPU and Ram that's mroe powerful apparently.

With the Nintendo DS being a bigger sucess then the Gameboy Advance brand, there's no way that Nintendo would be splitting their market so soon with a new Gamecubeboy.

If they did release a Gamecubeboy, it would be a novelty hardware peice like the Micro.

Yeah.
I've already got a gamecube, I don't need a portable one.

Or I'll play them on my Wii.
Good old Backwards compatability.

Well, Nintendo has been saying for a long time, the DS isnt a replacement for the GB series, but merely a side project. I dont necesarrily doubt it, but its pretty damn obvious DS DID take the GB's place. And after the Wii, doesnt more backward compatablity seem redundant?

i know the DS wasnt suppost to replace the GBA, but it did... look at the amount of games out on the DS and then look at the GBA..... might not have been the big picture in the whole hand held domination, but it happened.

this new one looks to be a new gameboy like, since the ds is extreamly unique. but if they make it.. i hope its about 4 years from now.

I don't think anybody knows for sure, but yeah, more than likely Hollywood is just a smaller, much faster version of Flipper, and Broadway is a smaller, much faster version of Gekko. And since those are essentially the same architecture, you really COULD run gamecube code with it without needing to do much, rework the controls a little bit maybe, and adjust how much it throws into Ram, but not a whole lot. It wouldn't be a GC backwards compatible system, but it would make porting things from GC to this system very easy. All that said, I wouldn't see this happening. The handheld would probably be too expensive, run too hot, and frustrate consumers who've seen the GBA-GBA SP-DS one right after the other. It'd be nice hardware though.

Even if all of this is true, it'd be a LONG way off. We wouldn't be talking about the demise of the PSP here, we'd probably be talking about what the PSP2 will be facing in the opposition.

Only by quality opinions, not sales :O

i hope they make this soon, and make it sexay.

the next gameboy will own on the psp.

Any next gen Gameboy is years off. Thanks to the DS, Nin tendo is in no hurry to switch to a new handheld.

I know they were planning a true next gen Gameboy but after the success of the DS that was put on hold.

Any current development would be very early and limited at the moment. The DS still has quite a few years left.

I don't see how this would "kill" the PSP, but it sounds neat. I'd love a handheld with that kind of power.

That's more along the lines I was thinking also, Z.
If anything I think it'll be a fan service for those who would like to take their GC games along with them. As it stands, there DS is doing so amazingly well, I don't think it'll be replaced any time soon.:)

I hate when people bring up sales. Since X-3 brang in a bigger profit then Superman Returns, was it better? Hell no. 50 Cent Bulletproof made more money then Beyond Good and Evil, was it superior?

Actually I hated Superman Returns, so yes, X3 was better, even though it was crap.

And did you like PS2 more then Xbox? Since PS2 did sell more, so it was obviously much better then Xbox. :whatever:
