Dem leadership still cater to Silicon Valley thinking they can win them back by pivoting to the Right, though.

Turning the clock back to the age of the robber barons has long been the wealthy republucans primary goal. Getting rid of those hard won labour rights from the early 20 century. They want to bring back the trapped working poor that made up huge swathes of the American population a century ago before economic, legal and social reforms changed the country.

"I recommend being in the office at least every weekday," he wrote in a memo posted internally on Wednesday evening that was viewed by The New York Times. He added that "60 hours a week is the sweet spot of productivity" in the message to employees who work on Gemini, Google's lineup of A.I. models and apps.

I do think it's interesting that Gilded Age is very identified with Lincoln's protege/successor Grant and yet not with Lincoln himself, and that despite the period being such a controversy if not disdained the Republicans did dominate so much for so long (well corruption probably is particularly likely when one party predominates due to the other being considered just not an acceptable option at all).

Turning the clock back to the age of the robber barons has long been the wealthy republucans primary goal.

Those for the period and its trends in general would be pro-mass immigration (Lincoln himself for both immigration and tariffs), the era was one of both mass immigration although also of mass resentment of it, mass public resentment of it but it still continuing, not being prevented by law until later.

The period as well as the '90s saw wealth increases concentrated at top and yet also real wages generally substantially increasing, pretty hard to see how mass economic growth that does help everyone would not correlate with it particularly benefiting some and therefore also increasing income inequality.
