Disney's Sword in the Stone

Disney should announce all these title's in one day. Instead of spacing them out.

Only okay with this if they change Arthur actors multiple times in one scene like the animated one. :o

Jeez Disney...

Hey I guess if it makes them money

Disney have just gone 'Screw it, we just won't bother anymore'. It's sad what this company has become.

Eh that's a bit dramatic I think.

Disney still turns out some good products whether it be Disney/Marvel, Disney/Pixar, hopefully Disney/Star Wars, or just regular Disney.

Sure they have some bad movies, but every studio does. However, I think this "let's make live action version of fairy tales" thing to be stupid though. But I am saying that without having seen any of them

I will be the same and say...about time :o

This films was an adaptation of the first book from Once And Future King, i never understood why they made sequels for every film except this one, as it actualy was 1/4 of the complete story. Makes sence for them to finaly do a live action version of Once and Future King, it's an Arthur adaptation that actualy has a purpose.

I wonder when they plan to have this out? WB are hoping to make Knight's of the Roundtable: King Arthur into a franchise. So we'll have a two different takes on the Arthurian legend.

F*** all y'all, I'm here for this. :o

We have yet to get a really good idea of what the tone of WB's film will be, but I imagine this will skew a bit more high fantasy.

One of the most powerful and successful film companies in the world? :o

If it is a fun live action take on the actual animated film... Count me in. That sounds like a lot of fun. The Wizards duel, live action? Man... That could be worth the price of admission.

Oh no are we going to have to do the sad chipmunk thing again? That was so emotional back in the day

hell yeah! This, Basil and The Black Cauldron were my favourite animated movies as a kid. I so want this to happen. however, i hope thy think about adapting the other 3 novels too

Eh, I'm kind of digging that Disney is doing live action versions of this stuff.

I always found this and Black Cauldron to be the most fitting Disney films for live action adaptation, they themselves were based on a series of books that if done right, could lead to an interesting series of films.

Interesting.

The animated film wasn't really good but had an interesting premise.

So far, these have been hit or miss (didn't really like Alice, but loved Cinderella), and the Beauty and the Beast live action film seems to be shaping up beautifully.

I honestly don't blame them, considering "original" IPs like John Carter (based on century-old books, but not any existing Disney property) and Tomorrowland (loosely based on an existing idea, but not a preset story) tanked so bad.

I like the fact they are doing these films, but at the rate they are being given the green light it is inevitable that one of them will do a John Carter or Lone Ranger. They have to slow down a little bit.

Where's my King Arthur and the Knights of Justice film damnit!?

I do have the Sword in the Stone book although I have never read it so I'm not sure how closely the animated film followed it but I always enjoyed it when I was younger..

I am ok with what Disney are doing (live action remakes) although some of them such as Sword in the Stone obviously make more sense than others such as Dumbo.

I think it could be good if it is based on or similar to the animated film, in terms of being more about a young Arthur meeting Merlin and Merlin trying to take him on his journey... If they do that and keep a more "fantastical" tone then I feel it would stand chance of ben better than the Guy Ritchie version. I also hope they don't do anything stupid like making Merlin young just so they can cast someone "cool a good looking" but I also hope they keep the wizard duel in because that could be pretty awesome.

See, this is a live-action remake that actually makes since, unlike, say, Dumbo or Winnie the Pooh.

Disney's 'Sword in the Stone' Live-Action Remake Finds Director (Exclusive)

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, perhaps best known for directing the zombie thriller 28 Weeks Later, is in negotiations to helm The Sword in the Stone, Disney's live-action reimagining of the studio's 1963 animated fantasy.

Bryan Cogman, a writer-producer on HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, wrote the script for the project, which is being produced by Brigham Taylor (The Jungle Book).

Okay.

Will this connect with Ridley Scott’s “Excalibur Origins: Merlin”? Is this the beginning of the Camelot Cinematic Universe™?
