Some of my most fond memories of gaming are of playing split screen with my friends; whether that was playing Goldeneye on the N64 way back in the day, messing around in Forge mode with Halo, or fighting off zombies in Call of Duty.
But nowadays less and less games are offering split screen co-op. Even new games that have large Co-op components, such as Assassin's Creed Unity and Dragon Age: Inquisition have no split screen option. You and your friends cannot play the co-op modes together on the same console.
Do you think this is a feature that should be included more often? Or do you maybe think split screen co-op isn't necessary anymore now that we are in a more "connected" age?

Splitscreen co-op is my youth and my favorite way to play. Games like Halo and Mario Kart will always get my money as long as they still have those.

Just played some co-op missions from Modern Warfare 3 with a friend today. There's really nothing quite as fun as playing with someone who is physically there with you.

My brothers shoulders are still sore from playing the original Halo on Legendary. It was always his fault when we died. :woot:

Split screen with family and friends is a heck of a lot more fun than online with strangers and trolls.

Oh yes. Couch co-op needs to make a big comeback.

Splitscreen sucks, period. Real talk, the fond memories we all have of splitscreen multiplayer has everything to do with who we were playing with, because I sure as **** know it didn't have anything to do with squinting, trying to play a game in a tiny little window with a third of the frame-rate.

Online is very convenient, and it allows for far bigger and more complex games, not to mention it's great to have a screen all to yourself, but it does lack that personal touch.

The true best way to play multiplayer? LAN parties. Best of both worlds with the weakness of neither. You get the social factor of playing in the same space with people, while being able to stretch out in front of your own screen. Truly it's the gentleman's way to play video games.

Nah split screen was cool with me. I didnt mind in the tiny windows or whatever. I had alot of fun with it

I never had the resources to have LAN parties and also when I was really into split screen gaming was the PS2/Gamecube generation before there were LAN parties or whatever

it never left. just harder to find.

Uc3 had it, so I'm here hoping Uc4 will have it too

Well there's still couch co-op some with split screen eve too. But it's with dev studio's or publishers half of you don't touch or don't care to look at. The one doing so are

Border Lands the series (which does split screen) One of the Few in North America that does it still. this is pout side of people that still work for Nintendo or do contract work for them

the various version's/ spinoffs of Dynasty worrior's styled games (also known for split scree couch co-op) but that the spin off's like the one piece & now Hyrule warrior's are what people like the main series not so much.

Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil edition which just pure couch co-op (Sorry it's not split screen. but it is indeed couch co-op) that was made very clear.
