As smartphones and cell service got better and better, who here still uses a landline?

I have one, I just very, very rarely ever use it. I've been meaning to get it taken out for a while because the only calls I ever get on it are people looking to sell me something, take a surveys or scam calls.

The only reason it's been in & not turned off years ago was because my broadband/satellite required a phone line connection.. which it no longer does.

Technically I do but only because one of my numbers is a google voice number and it gets forwarded to it if I need to give someone a number via filling out a form or something.

Mine's needed for when my mum needs to call me, she ain't got a clue how to use/access mobiles and the like.

Not in years. Like a decade.

Yes. I still use it more then anything. Rarely use my mobile.

My English is somewhat limited, but I assume you mean old school phones like this?

Like, on a public network, and once with telewires on poles and stuff? I actually held on to my public phone service for quite a while, but some years ago, I just couldn't justify the reason paying those bills for something I never used anymore. And me and my brother managed to

BTW, these are the phones I grew up with back when the state determined what phones us citizens were supposed to used.

This one is vintage today. Goes by the name of "Cobra phone" and is worth ridiculous money today. Slightly before my time, but I remember them visiting grandparents.

The ones I grew up looked like this. But, no, not in this cool red "Batman -66 phone" style. Nope, usually grey, white or a bland yellow. Would be funny to see kids today trying to make a phone call on that one..

This is the last model I remembered during late 80s before we were free to buy whatever frakking phones we
want.

This might sound like a typical eastern European country behind the wall before -89. Nope, a well fed country in Scandinavia with huge democratic values which've never been involved in war during the 20th century. Which makes it quite hilarious looking at stuff like this today.

My folks got rid of theirs last year. We'd had the same home number since 1986.

Yes because our internet connection comes with a landline phone.

I just used landline last week to order pizzas! and thats the only time that I use it, to order pizzas!

That's literally one of the only things I ever still use mine for also, ordering takeaways. :D

Technically the internet service I have can utilise one and has a # assigned but I do not use it.

I still have one because my internet connection relies on it. I don’t use my landline though, in fact the phone (which need to be charged as its portable) is sitting in a draw dead.

There’s probably a way to have good internet access without a landline, I’ll need to research more about it.

i have one but when i move i am cancelling it.

I have a landline so that if I ever do have to give a number out, it won't be my cell. Let the spammers call there, I never pick up. My cell is mostly for texts. I guess I rarely talk on any phone, really.

i give the landline number to bill collector's and spammers. if someone calls my house asking for me, i know it's not a call i want to answer lol

Yes because with many cable companies, it's still cheaper to do their triple play option (cable, internet & telephone) packages then to have just cable and internet.

Ugh I know right.

Have you considered just having internet and basically streaming everything? The phone numbers can be voip.

THIS ^

One might say "there's an app for that". That's true, but in my country delivery apps are useless and you still have to call the store so you can check if your order was sent.

Also, our internet connection is bundled to our landline for more than 10 years now.
