That said I do have tons of pedantic fanboy questions. Tons of them. But the show isn't about that type of stuff. Like with FOX X-Men movies and their continuity questions. If the studio and the film makers don't care about those questions and just care about telling the story they are at that moment then I usually brush off those questions too. With this show I wonder about a great many things that it's just very vague about or which are presented in a way that just begs questions that the story seemed very uninterested in answering. You're right that the overarching story about the main character and his life are made clear more or less by the last couple of episodes before the finale, which I still have to get to. Still I do wonder about a great deal of details, but I am also sure that the way the show was written and presented that the makers just didn't really care about those ultimately fanboy type questions to focus on what they wanted to do.
