I don't understand the media framing it in the same way as someone who's been on a continuous series for the last X number of years deciding to leave it. I mean, the last season before this one was two years ago. Before that was the movie in 2008. And then before that was when the show ended in 2002.

So, to me, it's almost less "Gillian Anderson is quitting The X-Files" and more "Woman who engages in hobby every once in awhile decides to do some other s***."
