Horror Doug Liman to direct Stephen King’s The Stand

In contrast to the above examples, the creatures in The Mist, and the special effects in 1408 were pretty good. It seems that King was writing before his time. Technology has only recently caught up to his visions. Let's hope they go all out for this one, setting up greatness for The Dark Tower.

Sawyer must be either pissing his pants out of excitment or out of fear that they could **** this up.

Both, believe me. If they do it justice, it will be one of the most glorious film experiences of my life. If they **** it up, I may just have to jump off a bridge.

Anyone have choices for Randall Flagg?

I havea few ideas. One of which is Jeremy Davies.

I think McG should direct this. He has talent and TS was great proof of his well handled skills of post apocalyptic scenarios. He taps into what makes us human while still never losing sight of the grand canvas of scale for a film of this magnitude.

You serious?

That could be good. That could be really good.

His Charles Manson was creepy as **** too.

As far as directors go, my top choice would be Alfonso Cuaron.

Davies is a very good actor, and can play creepy well. But I don't know if he could bring the "weight" needed for Flagg. I'm thinking someone more physically imposing. Might be best to go for an unknown.

Well, to be fair, aside from LOST fans, I'm sure there aren't a whole helluva lot of people who even know who Jeremy is.

I hope the ending to this is handled better than the book. It'd probably be better off as an epic TV series than as a film.

To the guy who said Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem wouldn't be a bad bad choice as Randall Flagg either.

My first choice for Randall Flagg - Mel Gibson.

Jamey Sheridan too. He was an awful Flagg.

I still need to finish this book, but after skimming the script for Romero's vision I can agree with that. His Flagg was a joke.

I actually think Titus Welliver would be great. The thing is he already played a very similar character in LOST.

I like the suggestion of Welliver for Flagg. I also think Timothy Olyphant would be great.
