DreamWorks Pictures has acquired "Blood and Thunder," the new Hampton Sides book that tells an epic-sized story of the 19th century campaign to settle the West and the slaughter of the American Indian tribes that got in the way.

Kit Carson, a trapper and mountain man who married two Indian women but participated in the bloody battles against the tribes, is a key character in the tale. His exploits, captured in pulp tales known as "blood and thunders," lend the title to the Doubleday book published earlier this month.

Sides previously wrote "Ghost Soldiers," the WWII drama that got made by Miramax as The Great Raid.

Sounds very good,i wonder of Spielberg may direct this as he has mentioned wanting to do a western for a while
