Off to New Mexico to start our western television pilot, "EDGE", based on the books by George G. Gilman. More info to come (including casting) as soon as the studio gives the high sign. Buckle up!

"Lethal Weapon and Iron Man 3 screenwriter Shane Black has Edge, a spaghetti Western based on the Edge books by George Gilman. Fred Dekker, who is working with Black on the upcoming Predator sequel, wrote the teleplay from a story by him and Black who will direct. The two executive produce with Barry Josephson and David Greenblatt."

According to Deadline, Amazon signed Black to develop a pilot based on Terry Harknett's ultraviolent Western novel series, Edge, penned under one of his many pseudonyms, George G. Gilman.

Upon their release, the Edge novels were advertised as "the most violent Westerns in print." As one Amazon reviewer put it:

"Edge kills and maims people left right and center and yet one is always left feeling like he is the smart almost good guy "

Yup, that sounds about right for a Shane Black project. I mean, listen to this interview and tell me this isn't a match made in heaven:

Yvonne Strahovski, Ryan Kwanten & Max Martini Cast In EDGE

Yvonne Strahovski has been cast in Amazon’s western drama pilot “Edge,” Variety has learned exclusively. She will co-star opposite Max Martini and Ryan Kwanten.

Strahovski will play Beth, a mysterious Pinkerton detective who’s a newcomer to the bloody town of Seward, Kansas, where the series is set.

The show, based on the books by author George Gilman, follows Josiah Hedges, better known as Edge (Martini), a man who’s out for vengeance after his younger brother is killed by a group of his former Union army comrades, lead by his nemesis, Merritt Harknett (Kwanten).

Alicja Bachleda (“The Girl Is in Trouble&#8220 has also joined “Edge” in a recurring role. She will portray Pilar, a pregnant woman who is held prisoner by her husband and father-in-law and pleads with Edge (Martini) to help her escape.

Max Martini and “True Blood” alum Ryan Kwanten will star in Amazon’s drama pilot “Edge,” Variety has learned exclusively.

The duo will play rivals, with Martini in the role of Josiah Hedges, better known as Edge, who goes on a bloody mission of vengeance when his younger brother is killed by a group of his former Union army comrades, lead by his nemesis, Merritt Harknett (played by Kwanten). Edge is described as fearless, intimidating and “the meanest-looking man in any room he chooses to enter.”

Kwanten’s character is the son of a prominent senator who can seem charming until he is revealed for who he actually is — a psychotic sadist who delights in inflicting pain on others. He is pursuing Edge for an undisclosed reason.

How did I not know about this! Sounds interesting. Max Martini sounds like the name of a pro wrestler so I was surprised to see who he is when I googled it, he's the guy that usually plays muscle for hire characters.
