A couple years ago, a co-worker of mine invited me to go to a nearby mosque at the end of Ramadan because they throw huge parties with a ton of food once fasting is over. I didn't go, though. I didn't fast for the last month, so I felt like it would've been a dick move on my part to go.

not at all, if you didnt fast it doesnt mean you cant go

you should've gone

Really? I just didn't want to show up like, "Hello. I'm not Muslim, and I'm fairly certain I've eaten pork during the daytime at some point in the past week. Where the food at?"

I wouldn't have actually said that, but Freudian slips do happen.

Eid Mubarak everyone!

I went to a mosque once in India. It was an interesting experience...

I'm celebrating today. It's an Asian thing. We're 24 hours behind.

Anyway, Eid Mubarak Everyone! :hrt: :hrt: :hrt:

He said that in the religion thread
Eid Mubarak everybody

You think I stick around in those threads? Things escalate so quickly.

You are a better man than I.

I'd show up to the opening of a car door if there's free food. :(

Eid Mubarak everyone! Someone wished this on facebook too. I love this!

Does Eid mean "holiday" in Arabic? Because it means a non-jewish one in Rabbinic Hebrew.

Not really, Eid doesn't apply to the first day of the lunar new year
So what does it mean?
I'm very interested in comparing Hebrew to the other Semitic Languages, including Arabic (and i'm learning Arabic for that reason).

Kane i had no idea you were muslim. I actually started reading the Koran (or is it quran?) yesterday. I finished the second sura today. Been meaning to pick it up and read it for years. While im not religious i feel its smart to be aware of what the book actually says rather than going by what uninformed hateful people say about the book. Anyways, Eid Mubarak.:)
