First off I would like to clarify that the points below are strictly based on my humble personal opinion. I don’t mean to offend anybody here. Rather I’d like to express my joy and happiness of finally letting go of my past.

It has been quite a journey but I have finally reached the end of the tunnel. My name is Jim. I am not a child or teenager anymore. I am a man.

- Beat Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II

  • Spider-Man Comics (2004 - 2008)

Finish reading all ‘core’ Spider-Man titles from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s:
- Amazing Spider-Man
- Spectacular Spider-Man
- Web of Spider-Man
- Spider-Man
- Sensational Spider-Man
- Annuals, Essential Crossovers, Tie-ins & One-Shots

  • Superhero Cartoons (2005 - 2008)

- Spider-Man 60’s animated series
- Spider-Man 80’s animated series
- Spider-Man 90’s animated series
- Superman 90’s animated series
- Batman 90’s animated series
- Justice League ‘00 series

  • Superhero TV (2004 - 2008)

- Smallville
- Incredible Hulk 70’s series
- Return of the Incredible Hulk
- Trial of the Incredible Hulk
- Death of the Incredible Hulk

  • Transformers (2005)

- G-1 cartoon from the early 80’s
- 1986 animated movie

  • The Adventures of Tintin 90’s series (2009)

  • Videogames (2008 - 2010)

Honorable Mentions:

Due to time constraints and complications:

- I could not play the following RPG/Strategy games I loved as a child including Final Fantasy Adventure and Final Fantasy Legend 3 for the Gameboy, Phantasy Star 4 for the Sega Genesis and Metroid 2: Return of Samus for the Gameboy

- I could not read the great Marvel comics from the golden and silver age of comics including The Incredible Hulk, The Invincible Iron-Man and the Fantastic 4

- Did not come around to watching the 90’s Incredible Hulk, Iron-Man and X-Men cartoon series.

- Sadly I could not find a Kung Fu: The Legend Continues DVD Set anywhere.

You Tube Mentions:

- Completed Silent Hill 1 for PS1

- Completed Resident Evil 4 for PS2

- Will eventually come around to Resident Evil 5 for PS3 strictly for storyline purpose

Future outlook:

I am ready live in the present and not in the past. But as a man, what do I have to look forward too? Present day videogames are boring and repetitive. All there is are mindless first person shooters and button mashing adventure/action games. Resident Evil was the last of the great and classic franchises. However the creators of Resident Evil 5 sold out to the first person shooter genre. Comics aren't as interesting to me as they used to be. Gone are days of the Golden and Silver age of comics. Anime has taken over cartoon world. We had great iconic characters like Optimus Prime and Batman and now we have Pokemon.

Well there is at least one thing to look forward too. Sonic the hedgehog 4. At least it is an old school 2D style game. It’s going to be that feel good summer sunshine kind of game. Finally there is a reason for me to actually turn on my PS3.

Thank you all for listening my fellow superhero hypsters. I am now living in the present. I love you all.

Thats what I am thinking, well maybe its about what this poster as accomplished.

If so, then congrats man :)

I don't get it. Reading comics and playing video games was some kind of goal?

I would say step number one would be to climb your way out of the basement and see what the world has to offer. I'm also not sure what to think about Sonic 4 being your one shining light in the days to come. Were I a religious man I'd pray for you. Since I'm not, however, I'll just wish you luck in your future endeavors.

I am sorry to take away your one bright hope for the future, but they have put Sonic the hedgehog 4 on indefinite hold, some kid dyed his hair blue, gelled it up and locked himself in the washing machine trying to give himself sonic hedgehog powers. The kid is fine, he's just wedged in there pretty good and they can't get him out, so are sending in mashed foods through the soap powder drawer. So, I would not get too despondant, and don't get any ideas about radioactive washing machines or anything.
Ok man, hope you have a good summer regardless and I would maybe take a break from the indoors, find something new and surprise yourself, all the best.

Some may find fault in you doing all this, but I say more power to you. Entertainment is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone who says that the thread starter needs to get a life doesn't understand the concept of entertainment. Nothing wrong with a fan actually setting out to experience everything there is to offer. What exactly is "getting a life" anyway? Going out and getting drunk with a bunch of people celebrating a holiday that they have absolutely no ties to? If this guy would rather spend his time playing video games and reading comics, then he's actually having the life he wants to live. Life is what you make of it, not what other people tell you it is. Good for him for actually doing what he likes instead of conforming to what is "acceptable."

And who is to say that this guy didn't actually buy all these things? It costs a lot of money to actually collect, so chances are he has a job to pay for all this stuff as opposed to sitting in some basement asking his parents for cash. It may be true that he's a nerd that mooches off his parents, but why not give him the benefit of the doubt as a working man? Couldn't it just be that he spends his money on comics, games, and movies instead of getting drunk with a bunch of ******s? Maybe he'd rather play video games than spending his whole paycheck on a bunch of clothes? Just a simple thought.

What is the point of this thread anyway and why is it an end of an era for you ?

did your Genesis Revenge of Shinobi include Batman and Spiderman?

ummm... if that's what you're looking forward to "as a man" you're still not man enough for me.

As a woman I want a man that's looking forward to something a little more concrete than video games. :oldrazz:

this sounds like somebody i know....your nickname wouldn't happen to be "Jim Classic", would it?

Accomplishing all those things doesn't make you a man, sorry, it just makes you a geek/nerd.

I don't see "Touching a girl" on that list. How's that going?

You aren't living in the present, you're blinded by nostalgia. How on earth can you be living in the present if the one thing you are looking forward to is a game that is deliberately basing itself on games released in 1993? How can you be living in the present if you reject modern culture and instead embrace what was popular when you were a child?

You spent an entire decade playing games from your childhood because you don't feel comfortable with growing up. Now you are growing bored of them, and you still don't feel like facing the future, so now you're trying to justify it by saying that the future sucks, and grabbing hold of things that are deliberately retro.

Hopefully you'll grow out of it.

I am very impressed with you and your answer. Bravo!

Hey, I think the guy had some fun goals. Congrats for reaching them and I hope you enjoyed the journey.

Get laid?

Woah, one step at a time!

I'd imagine this is his list for the next decade

2010-2015 - Talk to a girl

2015 - 2019 - Become plutonic friends with a girl, you know, they type who puts in all the work while her boyfriend gets the benefits.
