End of Top Gear

BBC has just sacked Clarkson for hitting a producer. Is this the end of the show or will they be able to replace him? He was not just the presenter but when the original Top Gear was cancelled his co presenters jumped ship to Channel 5. He and his friend Wilman reinvented it. It now gets 150m viewers each week. Can it survive without him?

Been covering that here in the generalized BBC Shows thread. I hear that James May has "Former Television Presenter" listed on his Twitter though nothing from Hammond yet, or the future of Top Gear itself.

I think the show could go on without Clarkson but to lose May and possibly Hammond might signal the end of it.

The show should be cancelled, it just wouldn't be Top Gear without Clarkson.

Rumours that Netflix might give it a go. Have to rename it but I'm sure a lot of the team would go with Clarkson. I like the idea. Might even manage a few extra episodes and a slightly bigger budget.

They could just do a series of more elaborate episodes.. which are essentially what Jeremy Clarkson's Christmas DVD's are. They focus a little more on the motoring though, but still entertaining.
