"Deadline reports on the film, which was scripted by Philip Gelatt, and follows “a six-person team of astronauts from various international space stations who are sent by a private sector corporation to be the first manned mission to Jupiter’s fourth moon.”

Ecuadorian director Sebastian Cordero will be directing, and Pan’s Labyrinth production designer Eugenio Caballero is handing that duty on the film. Ideally, if funding comes together, Europa will shoot in New York this fall."

Sounds awesome

This sounds exciting.

A sci-fi film involving the moon Europa with Sharlto Copley featured in the cast? I'm there!

Sounds pretty cool. Thought for a second it might have something to do with the movie "Europa Europa" but the two films couldn't be more different.

Sharlto Copley.

Michael Nyquist.:down
I came here to say the same haha, Nyquist tries to hard every ****ing time he's on screen. I cant think of a more boring "actor" out there

Sound interesting and Copley is great to watch, I'll keep an eye out for this.

First Look at Sharlto Copley in Sci-Fi Film The Europa Report

It hasn't made its way officially online yet, so we've scanned this first photo from Entertainment Weekly of Sharlto Copley (The A-Team, District 9) in the sci-fi film The Europa Report, which co-stars Michael Nyqvist, Daniel Wu, Anamaria Marinca, Christian Camargo and Karolina Wydra.

In the Sebastian Cordero-directed sci-fi film, coming later this year, a group of astronauts make the arduous journey to Jupiter's frigid, glacial moon Europa in search of extraterrestrial life. The only thing more intimidating and unpredictable than the trip itself is what the team will encounter upon arrival...

With that international cast, and the basic concept, I'm getting kind of a Sunshine vibe.

Sunshine was good right till the ending which just was a big WTF for me.
Also as a space nut , i am quite looking forward to this movie just for the visuals of Jupiter :woot:

Awesome I love good Spaced based Sci Fi movie.

I've only seen Michael Nyqvist in the millenium trilogy so I can't judge if he sucks or not yet.

Ice truck killer Dexters brother is in this too.

So this is essentially a remake of 2001?

The trip to Jupiter makes up like maybe a third of that film and there were way more things going on.

I had no idea this was coming out this year. Quite a bit of potentially awesome Sci-fi coming out this year. I dig it.

I'll watch anything that has Sharlto Copley in it. Definitely looking forward to this.

cant watch the video but i hope it doesnt turn out to be just some scary aggressive ice aliens that kills everyone but the hero

Cool, I hope there's some cool aliens in it. I want to see some Europeans!

It's not 2001 guys, it's 2010 with Roy Scheider all over again lol. This does sound awesome though. Can't freaking wait!

Will have to watch the teaser when I get home, cant wait for this though, next year is going to be great for sci-fi.

So I had never heard of this movie until this morning. I saw the teaser online. Kinda ticked me off because a few days ago I came up with what I thought was a super original idea about a mission to Europa and started writing a story about it. Then I saw this and the two were way too similar. I have to give kudos though. It's nice to see original ideas are still getting made into films. This isn't adapted from anything right?
