Facebook purchases Oculus

That's actually very interesting. Oculus was really struggling, so this is definite good news for them.

Could be good by giving it the support it needs as it looks great or they could turn it into a mess. We'll see.

Great. Just what I wanted. Facebook to aquire a promising piece of tech and squander it on some social media BS.

I just got to try an Oculus Rift at D&B. It was an off-road car racing game paired with the GT5 steering wheel/movement to match the game. Fun as hell as a package. Really curious to try an FPS or something.

BUT WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE CHILDREN?!?!?

:o

Don't know yet whether this is going to be a good or bad thing. If it gets the product to market quicker, then I guess it's good.

If they re-brand it as "Facebook Portal Goggles" then f**k it, I ain't buying one...

I'm gonna get all Lawnmower Man all over ALL of your Facebook walls.

I just posted about this in the business forum.

Facebook will buy it but it will still work independently at its own facilities. Much like how Disney bought out Marvel/Pixar but lets them do their own thing.

Why go out of the house when you and your friends can all pretend to meet up in a virtual world?

Haha, its funny because we dont't socialize.

Don't they do that already?

Don't people already do that? :funny:
This would be like Second Life only it's "real" and more of a 3-D environment. Otherwise, yes it's exactly what they do now only they don't have a virtual avatar of themselves to walk around the world in and boink random people. It could be a way to literally get a sexually transmitted computer virus.

You mean like HPV? :hehe:
