Fantastic Four: First Steps General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

I just saw it I think it was serviceable, I think they got the characters right which is what you want. Galactus was cool wish they had more, but it is a solid movie wasn't blown away by anything visually. I do think they will be better in the next appearance, Thing and HT will have a blast with other characters.

Regarding Thunderbolts credit sceneI was hoping we would see how that happens, but I do like that we get another year of speculating what causes them to jump.

I am so sorry Kevin stole Doom away from you guys for a marketing gimmick.

I think the beginning got cut down.

The movie opens with the pregnancy and whatever connection Sue has with Mole Man and Subterreanea is blown past in the flashback montage that follows. Sue in particular while having most of the big story moments felt a bit cut back.

Anyway good movie as I pointed out in the rate thread.

This movie frigging ruled. Waiting for post credits scene number 2. I can tell the opening was trimmed. I bet most of that 10 mins was cut there. Makes for a choppy-ish first act, but once the plot really starts.....A+. This was exactly what I wanted. Part superhero movie and part sci-fi adventure. Lots of influence from Interstellar at points in here.

This ain't a 4 star movie....it's a 5 star movie!

Can't wait to see this again on Saturday! This was so good. I still have me reservations about Doomsday and what's going on there, but get this team a sequel and make sure it's one of the 1st one after Secret Wars. Take advantage of the FF being hot again

This may not have been the cast alot in fandom wanted, but there's no denying that this a great group of actors, who nailed their parts well.

They truly made me care for these iterations of these characters and there were scenes in the third act in which I was trying not to break ,and the woman sitting next to me was in tears.

Needless to say, none of the other versions have ever made me feel that.

It's a really good film , and probably my favorite since Spiderman : No Way Home .

I can't wait to see the team again .

Well Done .

I was confused by this as well but assumed it might now be explained at the start of Doomsday, no doubt that film will be like 7 hours long to explain things like this. :o

The cast was the best part about the movie, and what ultimately makes it work.

Saw it last night, shared my thoughts on letterboxd, but wanted to let it marinate a little more before coming on here...Marvel nailed it. Truly felt like the Fantastic Four leaped off the comic book page onto the screen. I thought the Pedro casting as Reed was a little uninspired and wasn't sure about it but it was perfect and I'm all for him potentially leading the MCU going forward. Really, the whole cast was great but it's really Reed and Sue with Johnny being the fan favorite in a lot of ways.

The more i've thought about it, the more I've liked it. I'll definitely be seeing it again

Saw it this morning and man I gotta say this movie was Fantastic!! A 4 out of 4! 😉 This movie Felt so fresh and very comic accurate! Felt like I was watching a Saturday morning cartoon. My only gripes I had with it were that there should have been more screen time with Silver Surfer and Galactus and that the ending kind of felt rushed.

Also that tease of the mid credits was chef’s kiss!

Congrats to Marvel and Feige on another hit!

I thought Reed was a great contrast to what we've seen before in the MCU. Tony and Steve were were cocksure to a fault, but Pedro did a really fine job in portraying a different kind of hero.

Two low key things about the movie that I loved:

- When they played the archive footage of the FF going to space and the fact that they only gave us the audio from their mission when they got hit with the cosmic rays. The screams and not being able to see it was a nice, gut-wrenching touch.

- That quote from Jack Kirby in the credits. Very lovely.

I rarely see movies twice in theaters anymore but I'm really debating going to see this a second time if only just to see the third act with the team taking on Galactus again.

Drizzy, either Monday or Tuesday at my local theater, I'm thinking.

Some stuff I gotta catch again too.

If you need something to tide you over, I learned last night that Disney+ has the first five minutes of the movie on there as "Fantastic Four: First Steps - A Special Look" if you want to see the opening montage again.

It's weird that this film is shorter than Superman (by like 10min) but it feels longer? They were able to pack in so many things while not feeling rushed or overwhelming at all
