Thanks man
I had no idea what I should've been looking for when searching for their main themes, so I gave up the search.
Really enjoy Cap's theme. It could be as iconic as Supes' in due time, imo.
No problem. Also I agree about Silvestri's Captain America March.
Well, as the poll is showing already, there are some that did vote outside of Superman and Batman, so to each their own.
Well I was just saying that a lot of users up here like to go to the usual suspects instead of choose ones that are actually well written and fit the character quite well. Eventhough that certain theme may not be as iconic as Batman or Supes. I know it's their right, but I don't believe they even put much thought on the other themes. Especially Superman or Batman are listed.
Ehhh, Supergirl, Flash and Shadow aren't necessary on this poll. For one, I wasn't counting a television show such as Flash and two...never did like Supergirl or Shadow and I think a lot of fans didn't either, haha.
That's cool. I just found Elfman's Flash theme to be really catchy, fast, superheroic, bombastic and fun. It really suits the character. Batman leftovers or not I still enjoy the theme whenever I hear it. It's so cool. Sorry I wasn't trying to hijack your thread. I was just showing some other options. But say what you want about Supergirl and The Shadow ( Im not crazy about those films either though both had a lot of potential). But both scores that the late great Jerry Goldsmith wrote for them elevated those films to where the actual films never reached, imo. Especially Supergirl. That's one amazing theme. I think it's up there with Willliams' Superman March. I also think both scores are better than most superhero/CBM scores we get these days. Most of them sound like Zimmer/MV/RC noisefests in my ears.
BUT...I totally forgot about Hellboy. You'd think I would've remembered him when I own both films, haha.
Yeah it really is quirky and catchy. It even edges out Elfman's own Hellboy theme (for Hellboy II). That's saying a lot b/c I'm a big Elfman fan.
BB, TDK and IM deserve the praise they get because they were excellent films. And although I do agree that IM/IM 2's theme isn't that memorable or even that good, Zimmer did a fantastic job with Nolan's Batman films and the music is iconic in its own right. Maybe not a catchy tune such as Williams or Elfman, but it does keep that dirty, gritty feeling that is the whole point of BB and TDK.
Oh I wasn't bashing the films. Eventhough I don't care for BB or IM2. But I did appreciate TDK and IM. Both were (and still are) terrific. But the scores to the Nolan Batman films are very disappointing to me. They weren't the scores that they could've been, imo. You have Zimmer and Howard working together and they only came up with something lackluster instead groundbreaking. It also felt generic to me. Like something that belonged in a Bay/Bruckheimer movie, but not a Batman movie. I don't want to hear something that i heard in Transformers, and many Michael Bay /Bruckheimer movies. As well as something heard in movie trailers.
Zimmer has proven that he could write out of his comfort zone and not the typical MV/RC trailer music. Hannibal, The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, Frost/Nixon, Sherlock Holmes(2009) to name a few. I hope he writes a score more appropriate for Batman in TDKR and something that could stack up with The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons and some of his other greats. B/c when I compare BB/TDK scores to his more dramatic work it's like comparing a five year old's artwork to Picasso. Nolan really doesn't get the best out of him like others (Ron Howard, Ridley Scott and even Guy Ritchie got something out of Zimmer that wasn't typical of Zimmer for Sherlock Holmes) have, imo. Even his Inception score wasn't that impressive to my ears. Sure it was slightly better than his two Batman scores but that isn't really saying much to me.
With it being the final installment (of the Nolan franchise anyway) he should really go all out of his comfort zone and write something that this franchise needed since BB. This time he's on his own so if the score disappoints he gets the whole blame. Howard won't share it with him.
Though you say it captures gritty and dirty feeling in Nolan's Batfilms. That's alll the score seems to be is dark, raw, and gritty. It has little range. Howard's the one providing the range (which isn't much) with Bruce/Rachel's love theme (which get's barely used in both film's especially TDK) and Dent's theme (which is basically a variation on Batman's theme and nothing really new). That's fine you liked it. I just think the score and the films deserved better given that Zimmer and Howard are the composers. I'd expected music that sounded like it came from A-list composers and not C-list ones.
As I said, Zimmer's theme is such as iconic and can be recognized very easily, imo. I can always catch myself humming that theme just randomly when I'm at the store or someplace else.
It can be recognised b/c of how generic it is to his and other MVRC scores. They're basically interchangeable with eachother. Like I said that's cool that you liked it and got something out of it. Maybe I expected too much from them.
Sorry I'm not trying to hijack your thread again, but what about including this. I know the movie's a joke to most. But it had a great theme/score. Some prefer this theme/score over Cap's.
