After the media circus surrounding Kelly Marcel and Sam Taylor-Johnson departing the franchise after the first film, Universal is now circling several directors for Fifty Shades Darker.

Who are they? Jamey Foley, Mark Pellington, and Tanya Wexler.

Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are returning for the sequel.

The one thing I'll give this stupid franchise credit for is that it's not splitting the last book into two movies.

I think the studios are aware of the backlash, especially after HP, Twilight, Hunger Games and Divergent did it.

The Maze Runner series isn't doing a 2-part finale either.

Wait they're making a sequel?

When you have a movie that makes $500 million worldwide on a $40 million budget, that's incentive to get the other movies out quickly.

This bit of casting piqued my interest... Kim Basinger is returning to her 9 1/2 Weeks roots for her next movie: Fifty Shades Darker.

She's in final talks to play Elena Lincoln, who's one of Grey's business partners. Also the older woman and former flame who introduced him to S&M.

How the mighty have fallen. Then again, Basinger's career has been on the skids for well over a decade. Maybe this is a step up for her?

I half-want to see this now. Basinger has more sex appeal than the two leads put together.

The first movie was absolutely horrible and hilarious. The scene where Mr. Grey says
"I don't make love..... I $*&%#...... Hard" I looked at my wife, crying laughing and said this movie has some of the worst acting I have ever seen period. She laughed, I laughed, we took out the movie and still make fun of it to this day.

She'd be the only reason why I'd see this film. Still haven't seen the original and I won't.

This is what Kim Basinger said about 50 Shades... last year:
Have you seen Fifty Shades of Grey?
You know, I was invited to a private screening but I haven’t seen it.

I only ask because that film got me thinking about sexy films, and as far as modern sexy films go, 9½ Weeks is really up near the top.
9½ Weeks is one of those that I’m so proud of. I know it took some hits initially—whether tomatoes were thrown—or that we stayed in a theater in Paris for a number of years, but I’m very proud of that collaboration with Mickey, and with [director] Adrian Lyne. I hadn’t seen Adrian Lyne since the day we wrapped, and the other day, I’m on the street in West Hollywood and I hear, “KIM! KIM!” and it was Adrian! And he hugged me, and I said, “That movie has taken me so far,” and he replied, “Me too.” And that’s all we needed to say. There’ve been a lot of sexy, nudie films around, but in some strange way, we pioneered our way into that arena, and I remember how welcomed I was—especially in Europe—with that character. And it strengthened my film and personal relationship with women.

To be fair, in some ways it is because it's a big movie with a big following. So it's just stepping stones for her.

To be honest, 50 Shades is absolutely beautiful to look at. Sam Taylor-Johnson and Seamus McGarvey made the movie eye candy at its finest. The acting and story, however... just rotten.

Just watch the movie on mute, if you have to.

Kim Basinger to play Christian Grey's former lover in 'Fifty Shades Darker'

Great choice for Mrs. Robinson.

She'd be the only reason why I'd see this film. Still haven't seen the original and I won't.

It's not as bad as the haters make it out to be.
