This was a really good website for mods/demo's and stuff.

A popular online destination for the latest computer game demos, patches, and mods, FileFront has announced that come March 30th it will be no more. Visitors to FileFront today are being directed to a farewell message, explaining that the current economic environment has forced the website to close its doors indefinitely. Members of the site are cautioned to save any blog posts or stored files before Monday, March 30th, or risk losing them forever.

"We would like to give a warm thank you to all of you who have been part of the FileFront communities we have built together. Your support has had a meaningful impact for all of us here at FileFront. Again, we want to give you a sincere "thank you" for your support over the years and wish you all the very best."

"
FileFront owner Ziff Davis held on to the PC games site during the sale of the 1UP Network to UGO early this year, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.
Farewell, FileFront! You had a great run, and your 90 terabytes of storage space shall be sorely missed."

yeah it was. I didnt go there regularly but I went enough to understand its importance

ok got to burn my resi 4 mods to a disc now just to be safe. I have had like 6 gb of downloads from them in the past month. Just for that game alone.

I didn't go regularly either, but when I wanted to download something game-related, Filefront provided the mirrors a good 40% of the time. I suspect there'll be a lot of broken links on the interwebs for a while. :csad:

I downloaded that fakefactory 9/9.5. Pretty huge but really well done update, must have taken alot of work.
Also didn't seem to have those stupid models from the trailer that was up on kotaku.

It's a good thing fileplanet didn't buy them.
Compulsory sign up, give money or wait 20 minutes while ad's are spammed to download at a speed that wasn't worth waiting for.

What am I looking at in those pictures? They just look like Half-Life 2--which is always nice to see but is not exactly news.

Yea source has aged well.
It is Halflife 2. Halflife 2 is running on the older 2004 engine, the Episodes/Left4dead/Team Fortress 2 run on updated ones with more features. The modder has template halflife 2 to the newer engine which has HDR, motion blur, better volumetric and particle effects along with the higher polycount models and and replaced a large amount of textures through-out the game with higher res textures. Basically a lick of paint on an aging game.

Oh, I see. That's awesome. Is it out yet, or are those just preview screens?

Yea 9.5 been out for about a month or so. It need 9 base.
Pretty huge download and install, the files uncompressed are 10.5gb.

Damn. I don't mind, though. I've been wanting to replay HL2 for a while and this'll help.
