Film Comment's 14th annual poll. A note on the poll’s workings: over 100 North American colleagues ranked their favorites. For each ballot, a first-place choice was allotted 20 points, 19 for second, and so on.

Most of these on the top 40 (missed 40-45 on the poll). Also saw Much Ado, Drug War, Passion, Berberian and Captain Philips. Really, really good year for movies.

I haven't seen any of the movies but here's the ones I plan on watching.

I actually think it is an okay year. The most shocking thing about the poll is certainly the paucity of foreign language titles. They usually make up more than half of this list.
 
Not even Gravity? Hasn't basically everyone in existence seen Gravity?
 
The Wolf of Wall Street is now my favorite film of 2013 so I'm obliged to pick that one. :p
 
Hopefully there's another film called Spring Breakers that doesn't star James Franco .
