Eidos has sensationally unveiled a spanking new screenshot from Tomb Raider Anniversary, a special celebratory video-game being developed by Crystal Dynamics to mark 10 years of Lara Croft.

Tomb Raider Anniversary has drawn its inspiration from the original adventure that started it all. UK developer Core Design introduced the action-adventure genre in 1996 with the release of Tomb Raider, the first 3D-adventure game with a female lead. Crystal Dynamics now carry the baton, garnering critical acclaim with Tomb Raider Legend and scooping a BAFTA in the process.

During an phenomenal 10-year-journey, Lara Croft has transcended the world of cyber-space and left an indelible mark on popular culture. Her adventures have sold in excess of 30 million units, and the Tomb Raider brand has been globally exploited to promote an array of products; from comic-books, sports drinks, running shoes and more recently to raise awareness of skin cancer.

"Over the years, the fans of the Tomb Raider franchise have been constantly asking for a new version of the original Tomb Raider. We have answered the call with Tomb Raider Anniversary." says Eidos PR specialist Matt Dalgren.

I don't know if there are any other Tomb Raider freaks like me on this forum but i wanted to post this anyway. It's from "The Lost Valley" level from Tomb Raider 1!

thank you so much. I LOVED TR when it first came out. That game was challenging but it was my favorite when I got it, bc I never played anything like it. It was one of the first great 3D action games of its time. What I loved was the adventure element and how beauitful the landscapes where (well at the time). I think the games that followed have lost the feel of it and havent quite been able to capture the character that TR1 had as they got too "real" in a sense. I dont care about stealth and shooting down humans. Exploring and the puzzles were the main attraction. Cant wait to play the original remade for the current gen. Im really excited to see how it ends up since Crystal Dynamics is working on it bc they revitalized the series with TRL. The series had gotten stale, reptitive and boring, but I loved the changes they did and they finally fixxed teh controls and made Lara move fluidly while keeping her fun to manage

Please tell me there's going to be a 360 version.
Please.
Please.

Only PS2, PSP and PC have been confirmed. I really don't CD to dev for anything else right now because that would just push back the release date more.

It's most likely, possibly a modified version though.

Can you imagine playing the first TR with the control/feel of TRL?

It's going to be orgasmic

I know!

Can't wait to fight that T-Rex again!

Hawtness. I'll get it on PS2 or PC, I dunno yet. Mayne PSP if it's not laggy like Legend, but that'll be a longshot.

GREAT SCREEN SHOT, I'M A BIG TR FAN, I'VE GOT ALL THE GAMES AND I'M REALY LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS ONE, SWEET!!!:D:up:

I never really liked the TR games. They were rather slow and dull for my taste.

Oh, this is just awesome. :D I'll definitely buy it when it comes out.

So this is a remake of the first one? Are they remaking the second one also? That was the best one out of the originial three.
