The Flintstones composer Will H. Shaeffer has died from cancer in a nursing home in Palm Springs, California at the age of 78. Shaeffer is famous for his work on the hit animation series as well as I Dream Of Jeannie, The Jetsons, The Tonight Show, and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. He also wrote more than 700 commercials and scooped a Pulitzer Prize for his concert piece "The Sound Of America" - for the U.S.' bicentennial celebration in 1976. Schaeffer divorced his wife of 20 years in 1984 and leaves no children.

NOOOOOOOOOO!

R.I.P. I send my prayers and condolences.

That sucks. He made the scenes in those shows classic with the sound cues.

We're losing all the greats. :csad:

:(

Too many iconic themes by one person. And now he's gone :(

R.I.P., thanks for molding my young, fragile mind.

Sad news.

I've been enjoying a good deal of his work all this week through the Flintstones marathon on Boomerang.
