Ian McKellen-Toad (voice)

Andy Serkis-Spike (voice)

Bill Nighy-Whitey (voice)

Shane Richie-Sid (voice)

rest of cast listed alphabetically:

Plot Outline: The story of an uptown rat that gets flushed down the toilet from his penthouse apartment, ending in the sewers of London, where he has to learn a whole new and different way of life.

Trivia: The film uses software that was developed for the rabbits floating around the Bun-Vac 6000 in Wallace & Gromit in Curse of the Were-Rabbit. The software reproduces the 'imperfections' found in clay-mation (i.e. dropped frames, thumb-prints, etc.).

The trailer looked cute, doesn't seem to be greeted with open arms.

Isn't Hugh Jackman a voice of the lead character?

i would only see this at a friends house on dvd. You know those kind of movies..

Surprisingly yes. Really masked his own voice into the character that it's almost impossible to tell that it is him- most notably: the scream.

Hugh Jackman is really good with voices... When I first heard him talk after I saw the first Xmen movie I was like wtf?!? He's Australian?

/\ Yeah. Definitely. This film, it's still him, but it's kinda hard that you can tell that it is him. How he kind of raises his voice to be a tone higher than it usually is.

This looks like absolute ****.

It looks okay. I personally think Happy Feet looks better.

I'm hoping this film does well after the year Aardman had (building burnt down destroying nearly everything) however I believe its come at the wrong time. How many animated releases have had talking animals this year?! Its been an overload but I do have high hopes for this and Happy Feet!

Really looking forward to Jackman's voice talents in this one, as well as seeing how this performs at the box office. I think the promotions they're putting out are pretty cool as well.

I'd watch it, but I'm not going to the theater to see it.

I got free tix to an advance screening of Flushed Away for Monday. I'll give a review next week.

I don't usually watch kids' CG movies... I'm gonna pass on this.

But, I'm gonna check out Happy Feet and definitely Shrek The Third.

OK, saw the sneak preview last night and I did indeed enjoy it. (NOTE: no spoilers)....

The voices were excellently done (Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslett are both perfect) and the CGI faithfully reproduced some of the feel of the traditional Aardman claymation while still utilizing the more dynamic motion of CGI.

Since this is an Aardman/Dreamworks coproduction, there are parts of the film that come across louder and flashier than the Wallace and Gromit films of the past. The squeaky singing slugs are hilarious, but someone at Dreamworks must have realized that they were big crowd-pleasers, so by the end of the film they end up being kind of overused. There is also a big musical finale montage that feels more typically Dreamworks than Aardman in execution, but it doesn't come off as cheesy as the musical endings of other Dreamworks animated films like Shrek 2.

The British feel of the movie is still there, thank goodness, and references to the World Cup and all the tacky collectibles based on the British Royal Family will not be lost on UK viewers and Yanks who value their BBC America. There are jokes aplenty at the expense of the French due to a French secret agent frog character and I wonder how well this movie will go over in France as a result, but it was quite funny overall. Partnering with Aardman was a wise choice for Dreamworks, for if they continue producing animated films with this level of quality writing and characterization, they might have a chance at being a match for Pixar after all.

Rating: 9/10 -- cute and endearing.

Excellent review,thanks.:yay:
I wasn't expecting such a high rating.

The Lizard,

THANKS for your review -- it's great to hear such positive stuff. I read that it was tracking to be bigger than SC3 and that it's easily one of the best animated movies of the year. Cant wait to see it for myself this weekend!

Hey does anybody think there is any chance we could see a Shrek the THird Trailer with Flushed away?

holy crap that would be awesome! that's one trailer I DEFINITELY want to see on the big screen, as well. (As far as i know only the character pic is out though).

if anybody attends additional sneak previews, let us know what you think.

not sure if this serkis interview was posted yet, but it's pretty interesting:

There were no trailers shown with the advance screening I saw on Monday, so I don't know about the Shrek 3 trailer.

Well they usually don't show Trailers with Advanced Screenings unless they are attached.

Given that Flushed Away opens this weekend, I would venture to guess that word would've leaked about the Shrek 3 trailer being attached if that was the case. Never know for sure though....

Flushed Away is getting some pretty good reviews too -- as good as Cars was I'm thinking this could be of greater, or at least equal, goodness.

I liked Flushed Away better than Cars, which is saying something since I'm a diehard Pixar fan.
