Fright Night remake

Me either. I'm kinda baffled, really. The reviews were mostly good, it looked interesting from the a casual viewer stand point. I don't know what did it in. It had it all, IMO. Some humor, some genuinely creepy and suspenseful moments, some action, and good acting all around. It even had nice little character moments like when Jerry hissed at the beam of sunlight. It was great. I hope it gets some legs while it's still in theaters and maybe at least breaks even on DVD. I would have loved to see them tackle Fright Night 2 as well, especially to see who would play [blackout]Jerry's sister, Regine.[/blackout]

I loved that. Ferrel was great in this. I also really liked Tennant and hope to see more of him. I'd be interested in Fright Night 2 ( however unlikely) . I'm glad they at least mentioned werewolves and of course had the silver bullets scene

I'd love to Fright Night 2 to happen. Some movies that bombed or underperformed have still gotten theatrical sequels, and this should definitely be one.

If that's getting a sequel this should, too. I'd love to see the new Fright Night series be a yearly series.

I hope Fright Night gets a sequel, but I wouldn't go that far. I think Charlie should remain the main character and no more than two additional films can cover his story. I guess they could spin off Peter Vincent, but for me I wouldn't be that interested.

Right now, I just hope the domestic box office stabilizes enough, it does well internationally and on DVD to warrant a sequel.

Maybe if Jerry had fell in love with Brewster's girl and sparkled in the sunlight this movie would have took off.

:whatever:

Ditto that series has pretty much gave Vampires a bad name. This Movie is and always will be better than that piece of crap.

It's no surprise this movie bombed.

The first Fright Night wasn't all that memorable to begin with and it's always risky with a cult classic film to be remade--especially when using such a simple and relatively unexciting premise to boot.

It goes to show you how much the vampire genre has really become a little worn out over the last 25 years or so...

^^ I hate Twilight so much.

 There are no bounds for my hate of Twilight.

:argh:

There was a lot of girls when I went. This must of been a detox for them but they seemed to enjoy it.

Anyone else love the opening credits. That was almost the best part of the movie for me.

Also where were the neighbors? I couldn't tell if it was just an empy neighborhood or if Jerry killed everyone.

It was due to it being kind of a subdivision thing where everyone sleeps during the day, like he said, and they tend to move in for a while and move out.

Yeah.
I mean, 'Green Lantern' lost a ton of money, yet there are still sequels planned for it.

Just saw this a couple hours ago. It was a really fun movie. I wasn't expecting much when I went into it, but man was I surprised. It was really decent

Damn, I really want to see this movie. I just watched the old ones two nights ago and I liked the first, but the second wasn't as good. I guess I'm the only one that found Evil Ed to be unfunny and very annoying with his shrill voice though. Just to clarify, Billy was a ghoul in Fright Night right?

I didn't really like this one at all. I think they butchered the characters, Charlie is too unlikable throughout most of the movie, Jerry is too much of a 1D 'monster' and doesn't work nearly as well without the facade of being charming and likable, and Peter Vincent was REALLY terrible. It wasn't really the fault any of the actors, I just hated the direction they were going in.
Being subjected to Peter Vincent arguing with his stripper looking spicy latina assistant was just sickening, and not even funny.
I hated it being set in Vegas too, especially the scenes that were set in the heart of Vegas.
It's sad when McLovin is one of the most likable characters in a horror movie.

Most of the time I didn't find the 3D noticable, but when it was used it looked really good, and the movie offers a much prettier Amy, but I didn't like anything else about it.

I don't think this is even remotely comparable with the quality of Fright Night Part II, let alone the immensely awesome original.

Yes, another thing I didn't like about this one, I missed Jerry having an assistant. Him not having someone to watch over him while he slept felt awkward.

As for the Piranha comparison, that movie made just slightly over its budget in US theatrical gross, this will definitely make less, probably by about $10 million or so.

No, I agree. The original Evil Ed was annoying. But I did enjoy that crucifix to the face that he got. I also liked that he and Charlie were better friends in the original movie, so his being turned by Jerry had more of an emotional punch.

The original Ed was annoying, but the new Ed seemed a bit too prickish.

I noticed the lack of an assistant too. And I agree that the new film didn't do enough of a good job of making Jerry normal-seeming like the original. But I guess they were playing more to Colin Farrell's reputation, and to some extent his take on the character meant they could dispense with the innocuous, nice guy routine, and let him go straight to the jugular. The marketing, if not foreknowledge of the previous films, gave away that Jerry was a vampire anyway.

That meant the film should've focused more on the game of wits between Jerry and Charlie as Charlie tried to protect his loved ones while exposing Jerry. They sort of sped through that part too.

One thing that bothered me about the new film, which I forgot to mention in my review, was Jerry killing people in his neighborhood, or out in the open. I didn't care for that. I also don't see why the cops would leave him be without talking to the dancer. I guess his charm got him by that one. But killing Charlie's 'buddies' out in the open. How could he do that so brazenly? I was also confused by how he was able to kill them in the car physically. The guy in the driver's side, I got that. But not the one in the passenger seat.

What didn't you like about the second? I mean, the original is definitely better than the second, but I do like the second film.
