Fright Night remake

Indeed. But they dont. I guess the last effects shot looked cool in 3D..but still.

Also, Colin Ferrel as Jerry was not that great...OK....but he didn't have that little bit of compassion, and heart Chris had with his Jerry.

It was fun to see them both on screen though. Haha.

As any other teenish horror flick....if you dont know the first movie, i'd suspect it's more suspensful.

Got some cool stuff in it though.

I loved the original and I liked the second. Both had a good amount of scares in them, and I'm just hoping this delivers.

Agreed. The originals creature effects were awesome. Would have been cool to if they tried to give the original a run for its money in that department.

Yeah, it's too bad. I still liked the movie a lot but felt most of the CGI was unnecessary. I can understand using it for more complicated effects like morphing but things like blood splatter and basic make-up and prosthetics could've easily been done old-school and should've. If they do a sequel to this, I hope they opt for more practical effects and use CGI only if necessary.

For me, the CGI was only really noticeably not that great the first time Jerry transformed. The other times, didn't really notice it.

Best to go see this ASAP if you're interested, as it bombed pretty badly so far :/ Should've waited until late September/early October to release it.

Yeah October would have been a better bet. Too bad, it one of the better recent horror flick remakes Ive seen in awhile. Would have been nice to show adult Vampire flicks can make money. Now were gonna have to endure more of this teen vamp bs. Hopefully the good word of mouth and critic responses will help it have life.

I bet it'll be big on DVD and Blu-ray, and also do well with rentals and Pay Per View.

Damn, it's sad to see it's box office numbers. Why is it that a lot of good films seem to do poorly at the box office?

I guess it was just released at a poor time. This Summer has been a very competitive one for movies for sure, and some have gotten lost in the shuffle, this being one of them.

What did you guys think of
them adding the "You killed my parents" thing between Jerry and Peter? I didn't mind it, myself.

I saw the movie tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's one of the few remakes I liked and would actually recommend. It did its own thing and all of it worked for me. I was horrified that only a handful in the crowd seemed to recognize Chris Sarandon.

How old was your crowd?

I think it worked, it kind of explained why he was the way he was.

I thought it was a nice touch. Also I noticed something but wasn't sure it was in the original but was nice to see
The Vampires show humanity right before their deaths like Evil Ed telling Charlie "it was okay"

I thought this remake as awesome. You basically have something that works for a new generation but pays a lot of homage to the original. The crowd was mostly young and I could tell very few of them saw the original but they were having fun. I think Yelchin was great and the casting was solid. I really enjoyed Fright Night 8/10

One thing I didn't like though was
the ending felt like a set up with no punch line. I was expecting one last jump scare like Tennant's gf being alive.
It was funny everyone in my theater must of expected something because no one was getting up during the credits. I like how they were done though.

i happen to think the original is extremely overrated..and horrible.

this movie looks better by default..
but how does this movie compare to similar movies like Disturbia? better or worse?..

no one review really praises any one aspect of it (is it scary?,funny?,thrilling?) It seems like it might be just entertaining but not anything original

It's not really sending up the vampire thing, but kind of shows a more genre savvy side to it. The people don't really make stupid mistakes, they immediately react how normal people would, but it doesn't always work.

The disturbia element is there but they reveal things much earlier on. It's more of a horror thriller with some good jokes. Also there is a lot more action , Jerry goes on a rampage.

It was a very mixed crowd...teens and middle-aged who would have definitely seen the original. Only a handful reacted to
Chris Sarandon getting out of the car
One lady was pointing going "ooh, ooh, ooh" lol.

I think you're totally wrong. Imo.

To me it was thrilling and very funny. I laughed a lot more than I thought I would.

Mclovin played his part well. You actually kind of feel bad for him. And I was shocked to see
] Lisa Loeb as his mom. Still got that hot librarian thing going.

Planning to catch this from red box if at all, anyway, can someone tell me if...

a.
Evil Ed turns into a wolf and has that crazy death scene similar to the original

and

b.
Amy's vampire form has the gnarly giant mouth
