One thing Spider-Man is known for is his untimely wit. An example would be this:

For me I think the writers that write Spider-Man the funniest (and that doesn't mean the stories have to be good) are:

Joe Kelly
Michael Bendis
Jeff Parker

For stories I'd have to say:
Spider-Man/Black Cat: The Evil Men Can Do (he was extremely witty in it)
Almost every Ultimate Spider-Man comic
His appearances in the New Avengers
Almost every Marvel Adventures: Avengers issues.

What about for you guys?

You know what's sad?
If Spidey ever said, "LOL! PWNED" in the movies fanboys would react angrily despite it being one of the more normal things Peter could say at his age.

One of the funniest books for me has always been Amazing 267: The Commuter Cometh. It was just classic.

I definitely agree that The Evil that Men do was one of the funniest Spidey stories I've ever read. Kevin Smith is genius.

Yeah, Commuter Cometh is hilarious.

This one's really funny, too. Frog-Man, White Rabbit and the Walrus. Need I say more?

This is the silent issue by Paul Jenkins and Mark Buckinham with the Mimes. Great storytelling on Mr. Buckingham's part by making it all come together naturally.

The best part has got to be when Spidey moons the mimes and what their reaction is.:woot:

Yes, it's technically a Spider-Man issue.

After that, the one where he gets drunk on punch and fights the Hobgoblin, 'The Commuter Cometh' where he goes to the 'Burbs and the Sensational issue where Spider-Ben takes on the Looter.

Kevin Smith is genius.

If a world exists where that is actually true, I may just end it all now.

Seriously, booby and poopy jokes don't put you up there with Einstein and Mozart. ****, it barely puts you in striking distance of Jim Carrey.

Now that I'm reminded, the Spidey/Torch series was hilarious. I remember cracking up at the scene with Paste Pot Pete in the first issue. :awesome: One of the best stories in recent years.

Dan Slott's Spider-Man/Human Torch mini was pretty funny. I don't his stuff was as funny when he started on ASM though.

Same with Mark Waid, I thought his Fantastic Four story arc with Spidey was great, but not so much in ASM.

Paul Jenkins' PPSM run had some great funny moments, like that mime story mentioned earlier.

Zeb Wells has had some great funny moments, from his Tangled Web issues (he did one on JJJ: Behind the Mustache and another on Frog-Man's son) as well as his few ASM issues.

Joe Kelly is also funny. Him and Zeb write the funniest Spidey out of all the ASM writers. Also, I enjoy Bendis' humor in ASM and New Avengers. I don't mind that Spidey is basically just the comic relief in Avengers. Bendis writes him funny:)

Deadpool #11 - Joe Kelly
Deadpool #0 - Joe Kelly
Spectacular Spier-Man #185 (Frog, Walrus and White Rabbit) - J.M. DeMatteis
The Amazing Spider-Man #264 (Red 9 Kid)
Web of Spider-Man #38 (When Peter get drunk and went to fight with Hobgoblin)
The Incredible Hulk #378 (Fight with Santa) - Peter David
The Incredible Hulk #417-418 (Rick Jones wedding day) - Peter David

Currently? Van Lente (the spot issue is probably the funniest spider-man's been in about a decade) and Kelly are far and away funnier than anyone else writing him.

In the past I'd go with Peter David and I also really liked Larsen.

Kevin Smith isn't a genius, that said he did write a pretty damn funny spider-man.
