Game night

Max and Annie’s weekly couples game night gets kicked up a notch when Max’s charismatic brother, Brooks, arranges a murder mystery party, complete with fake thugs and faux federal agents. So when Brooks gets kidnapped, it’s all part of the game…right? But as the six uber-competitive gamers set out to solve the case and win, they begin to discover that neither this “game”—nor Brooks—are what they seem to be. Over the course of one chaotic night, the friends find themselves increasingly in over their heads as each twist leads to another unexpected turn. With no rules, no points, and no idea who all the players are, this could turn out to be the most fun they’ve ever had…or game over.

I didn't really like that trailer. A lot of the jokes didn't land. McAdmas was flat and frankly none of the actors look good in that trailer. I hope the actual movie is better.

The trailers for this movie is growing on me. It looks like it could be fun. Looking forward to this.

Over 30's night out does Cluedo. The Cop is the killer, is my bet based on that trailer.

Very nice. WB held multiple screenings for this one a couple of weeks ago and they were all very well received. I'm glad to see an original comedy doing well.

When it comes to R rated comedies from Warner Bros. Pictures, they’re hit or miss. Most of the time, they're terrible, but I enjoy them as a guilty pleasure. Sometimes they are actually pretty good, and sometimes they suck so hard there is little to no redeemable quality to them. A thing that I picked up from these films is that they would either be a Gary Sanchez Production or a film from the minds of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein which can be really good ("Horrible Bosses") or really bad ("Vacation"). “Game Night” is in an odd league of its own.

You know how Yogi Bear is smarter than the average bear? Well Game Night is better than your average R-rated studio comedy. Seriously it is and I hope it becomes a hit.

Here's my review:

Surprised to hear the positive reviews, but then again, I only saw the first trailer!

Definitely going to see this!

Probably gonna check it out over the weekend. I wanna see BP again and also Annihilation. Haven't had this many choices since summer.

Lamorne Morris is in, so I'm in.

Just got back from it, was pretty decent. You can tell the Horrible Bosses guys did it as the humor is pretty similar. The gag with removing the bullet from Bateman is probably one of the highlights as the punchline at the end makes it worth it.

Saw this today and loved it, best comedy I've seen in ages. They took the concept and mined everything out of it with constant twists and turns and plenty of laugh out loud moments, it zips along at a good pace without ever feeling rushed and even the couple of action scenes are tightly directed, while Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman were great together as the leads.

I had no interest in this movie, as I'm not a fan of most modern comedies, but I was guilt tripped into watching it with my family and I was very surprised by how good it was. It's a fun, comedic spin on Fincher's The Game, with a little of Edgar Wright's style thrown in. It kept me guessing, too, which is kind of a rare thing for me lately.

Solid 8-8.5/10. If the directors can bring this level of quality to The Flash I'll be very happy.

I saw a few weeks ago and I liked it quite a bit. It kept me guessing about the mystery and I was genuinely caught off guard in 2 instances. [BLACKOUT]I thought it was a work when the neighbor cop (Gary) got shot after he revealed his plan[/BLACKOUT] and then [BLACKOUT]I bought into the swerve when Brooks says that the whole thing was meticulously planned to perfection by him inside the plane.[/BLACKOUT] I thought the stereotype jock friend and his Irish date were hilarious. I loved the ending. It was really sweet and a nice callback to the proposal scene. The direction was quite inventive so I'm happy to see the Daley & Goldstein get more work.

I remember reading that it was similar to The Game back when the film came out, but I'd completely forgotten that fact when I was watching it. [blackout]The neighbor being behind the kidnapping was something I didn't see coming at all, but the brother's joke about everything still being a came was pretty transparent, given that the Bulgarian's henchman had just been sucked through an airplane engine.[/blackout]

Finally got around to watching this. Jesse Plemmons was gold, Jerry. Gold!

Especially loved the running gag with the glass tables.
