I don't know IF any of you who have Gamefly or are going to get it soon have heard about this new thing coming out during the holidays,(there's beta invites going on right now,I'm waiting for mine)But seems interesting!!

So we can now download ALL games from any console platforms onto our PC's and play them!?..Kinda like Netflix's streaming!?

Wow thats pretty cool, except for playing them on your PC.

Yeah, if they did this with consoles somehow, that would be nuts. I've cancelled gamefly twice because of how ****ing slow they are.

It's not worth it.

Well the PC thing itself doesn't bother me, i mean u can just plug ur PC up to ur TV, but my Mac couldn't run most of these games. 1.) id NEVER go back to owning a PC and even if i did, i wouldn't shell out the ungodly amount of money it would require to get it to run most of these games at optimal settings.

There's a shipping center about 5 hrs away from me and so I receive&they get my games in 2 or 3 days at most and so I'm lucky,But I understand how it could suck for others when out of 50 states..There's only 5 centers and some services could take every 24 hrs!!

Downloading&Playing console games in PC form is nice But yeah..Able to download games onto consoles by an app like Netflix's instant streaming would be truly amazing!!

It'll also work for Mac's,In the"All Platforms"section you can see the Mac logo and then plus the"Available Instantly on your PC or Mac"

I don't have PC or Mac games cause I don't know IF my computer is good enough to handle them and I just prefer using my money for console games,But IF Gamefly includes PC/Mac games to download&works for me..I can try the new Nights of the Old Republic game coming out soon(yay yay)!!

It's streaming, basically an interactive movie being streamed which means very little on hardware. Optimizing console games for the pc would be pointless as most AAA games are multiplatform and already on the pc with specific pc optimizations. Also, a pc to run pretty much all the games listed there costs about $600, It's not really godly unless you have a paper round for a living (which consequently is what I used to build my first pc). The quality will be higher than either console and the quality of the stream will be lower than console quality very much like Onlive.

This seemed like onlive a good option for people who only really having something like a netbook with no interest in purchasing a console or a proper gaming pc. However, I'm betting the price point will probably be ridiculous in the long run possibly costing more.

No you wont. It's a server based subscription service with EA who are trying to punt there own digital platform.

You can get a ridiculously powerful PC for cheaper than your Mac.

Having said that, I prefer the stability of console games, where they know what system you'll be using.

.

But Macs(outside of games) are far superior to anything PC. I couldn't go back to a PC.

The service sounds really cool. Maybe one day they'll be able to add something like that to consoles the way Netflix has their instant streaming.

I did the 10 day trial, and then I canceled. Then I started a new account and took advantage of the low price for the first month deal. Then I got an email with the same offer for my first account, so I re-activated that one. I was going to cancel my second one before I got charged for another month, but they offered a free month if I didn't, so I did that with the second account and will do the same with my first account. By the time the free month for both accounts end, I'm going to cancel completely, seeing as how it will be October and I'm going to buy some new games that will keep me pretty busy for the rest of the year.

Incoming fanboy Mac vs PC argument... Hear all your not so favorite claims of who is superior and why, and how the competition sucks and why you should or shouldn't switch sides.

Think I'll pass.

I wonder if Gamefly will actually be able to pull it off. Copying Netflix streaming sounds great but movies and games are not the same in how they read off the disc so if it does stream as opposed to download, it'll probably be clunky playing with stalls, stops and glitches. And streaming a game that's anywhere from 4 gigabytes or more is going to weigh heavily on bandwidth usage and assuming you're on one of the very few non-bandwidth capping ISPs you'll be throttled like you wouldn't believe.

In short it sounds great but the ISPs are going to make it hell on you.

Nowhere in the video did it mention anything about streaming,Just downloading!!

I agree! Gamefly would be amazing if they could get you your games faster. That's my only problem with them..

There's no way in hell this is going to work. With the download services that EA, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Valve are pushing through, they'll never let this go off.

Someone mentioned streaming but downloading itself is still going to be a massive 4gig+ file and that will be a problem for bandwidth limitations.

I love my GameFly account! I hardly ever own more than one or two games at a time anymore, so the option to get a game, complete it, send it back, really works well for me. My only gripe, I have had Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 in my queue almost since it came out, and I have yet to get it. It's availability always drops right when I send the current game back.

I wonder how Netflix's decision to add video game rentals to their service will affect other rental services like Gamefly:

Netflix will begin offering video game rentals this fall, the company announced tonight.

In a new blog post, Co-Founder and CEO Reed Hastings announced that the company's mail delivery service will be separated from its online streaming. The new delivery service is called Quikster, and will "add a video games upgrade option, similar to our upgrade option for Blu-ray, for those who want to rent Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 games."

"We realized that streaming and DVD by mail are becoming two quite different businesses," Hastings wrote, "with very different cost structures, different benefits that need to be marketed differently, and we need to let each grow and operate independently."

Hastings released a short video detailing the reasoning behind the split along with Andy Rendich, head of Netflix's DVD operations:

There will be no price changes associated with Quikster, and credit card charges will appear separately from Netflix charges.

The service, which now has an official site, is set to launch "in a few weeks," but no additional details were given.
