Geraldo talks about all 5 Men of Steel with commentary from the owner of Capedwonder.com.

Its a very pro Chris Reeve segment, but then again, so is Capedwonder.com.

Geraldo seems to have a problem with Brandon's youthful looks calling him 'baby-faced'

Gerado also uses the word 'vigilante' to describe Superman.

This guy is the definition of tabloid schlock journalism, he's even on Fox for crying out loud. Funny hearing him talk about this in any kind of favorable light.

lol well he did refer to Superman as a 'vigilante' from the comic books....

I duno what hes on.

Probobly Coke, or angel dust. Wayne Gale from Natural Born Killers was based on Geraldo.

I love how people who don't like this film are automatically tagged as drug addicts.

lol Geraldo didnt insult the movie at all... The truth is the truth.. Routh has a 'baby-face.'
He's more Superboy then MAN!

Everyone is on crack if you don't love this movie.

:O

He doesnt have a baby face. Routh's features are actually pretty dark.

But Reeve just looked older than his age when he began at 26. Reeve could have passed for early to mid 30s at that age.

The difference is Routh looks late 20s.

Brandon certainly couldnt pass for a 'boy' though, his features are too dark to make that believeable. He is Superman.

"expected to rival SPIDER-MAN 2 at the box office."

Ya Geraldo never said he didnt like it. He was trying to advocate it as good.

I was just dissing Geraldo for being Geraldo, nothing to do with Superman.

Well, if you are older than Routh than he looked young to you (or maybe not depending on how you look, or what you think looks young). I mean, c'mon...that's obvious. He does look...uhh..not worldly if that makes sense.

I did think he played a great Superman though. I got over him looking young pretty quickly.

Both will be false.

SUPERMAN RETURNS will do well at the Box office, but not 8th ALL-TIME well.

It will end with about 500 million world wide.

He looked young compared to Chris...mainly because Chris has an older looking face.

But theres no rule that says Superman cant look more youthful like Brandon.

Sounds about right. The Spiderman sequel had stronger legs since it wasnt the first. A larger number were anticipating it, as could be the case with the Superman sequel in some years.

I agree...lol...no complaints about Routh's looks or the suit at all, or his Superman.

I think perhaps it's his Clark that is getting him the young rap. He does play Clark...or what little we see of Clark's personality...as sort of youngish. It's like naive youngish, so that I think maybe where the young comes up.

Metropolis Clark? Its just the nature of the character. Chris played him just as naive as well, if not way more.

The thing I liked about Brandon's Clark is even in certain scenes where he tries to mask his feelings with being quirky and lighthearted, you could see some of the pain in his eyes.

One example is when Richard tells Clark hes heard alot about him. Clark thinks Lois remembered him.... but then Richard says Jimmys been doing all the talking about him. He looked pretty down.

Yeah, but BR comes off naive and youngish. Whereas Reeve came off mature and joking.

I think therein lies the difference and the major complaint...though this is one that I don't share.

Technically speaking, all superheroes are vigilantes because they operate outside the law and on their own terms

Its the nature of the way the characters are written.

A joking Superman (like Reeve was) wouldnt be appropriate under the sensitive circumstances of Lois' emotional challenges in the film.

I did think Brandon certainly acted extremely mature as Superman.

You're a terrible mod but people keep it to themselves.

A joking Clark or Superman IS hard to sell when they are not happy about being away for so long. However, I just don't think BR's Clark was capable of playing him older...even under those more maturer circumstances.

edit:

Same with Bosworth...really, but I'm cutting them slack because I think she did a fine job of a mature Lois even though she obviously doesn't hang out with anyone the age she is supposed to be playing.

I think that BR's youthfullness actually adds to both his Clark and his Superman. It gives them both a wide-eyed naivete that I think does a lot for the character. Every time I saw Routh as Superman it was like he had this utter belief that the world was a good place filled with good people and I think that youthful innocence enhanced that. I also feel the same way about Chris Reeve's Superman as he doesn't look all that much more mature in StM than Routh does to me.

It's the action and the...level of worldiness about them. They maybe the same age while playing the characters, but the direction and the characterization is more mature in the first two Reeve films. At least I think so...BR...I don't know...he didn't seem as confident, but I think that is because he was moody as both Clark and Superman. Moodiness sometimes seems sort of immature...i guess...dont' know really.

Like I said...I did like BR though, but I do think he looks and acts younger than Reeve...meh...could be that I am older than BR.
