Gerard Butler circling GODS OF EGYPT epic film directed by Alex Proyas

The last few Fast and Furious films have have had largely non white casts and have been some of the most successful films of all time.

The all white cast didn't save Exodus.

Well Exodus wasn't a Battleship level disaster, no ones career died from it. But I agree that the Fast & Furious films are hopefully indicative of a future where movies can have a balanced ethnicity in their casts.

I still hope we get a director's cut of Exodus, I doubt Exodus flopped because of the white cast, but the fact it was another cutted Scott movie.

Yeah, there's a definite Kingdom of Heaven scenario there. The movie was gutted for sure.

Because studios know middle America and the Chinese aren't gonna pay for something cast entirely with minority roles. It's entirely a cash grab for them. The simplicty comes from the fact people are still too inherently damn racist.

I don't buy that, especially when there's a big franchise with one of the most diverse casts. To me, it's just another case of them thinking people won't watch such a film and therefore, not giving the roles to actors who'd add more verisimilitude to the film. Much like Viola Davis' statement of opportunity when it comes to women of color. It can be applied to this film and many others.

Whitewashing is silly issue, it's a movie about gods who can appear in any form they like. So what if they are all white? It's make damn believe these aren't even their true forms really. People get too sensitive about this stuff, just enjoy the FICTION.

Cool. I expect you to be first in line for my Greek Mythology movie with an all black cast plus one white actor in a minor role. They will all have heavy Jamaican accents too.

If they thought people weren't going to watch it, they wouldn't spend $140 million on it and they wouldn't have gotten someone high B-list like Gerard Butler when it would certainly be cheaper to get racially accurate unknowns.

Like I said, I'm really hoping Fast & Furious has begun breaking these barriers down.

You missed my point. They're still sticking with the the mindset that people won't watch their film if it doesn't star White people, even those who can't really open a film on their name alone. Even with films/franchises headlined by POC and/or women showing it can't be a detriment, the change is slow-going.

Either way, the film looks like hot garbage overall. So, I doubt it'll do well.

Regardless of race this movie was going to be **** from the beginning.

They played the trailer before Creed. The film still looks terrible, even on the big screen.

One would think with CGI technology being what it is today that we would have no problem getting a truly epic Greek/Egyptian/Mesopotamian/Etc. mythology movie made, but nope. Just one piece of trash after another.

What if we talk about the actual film, instead of discussing the colour of the actors?
The trailer is quite impressive and is so in its own right.

Dude, I've got to know what you smoke on a daily basis. That must be some powerful sh**.

Now here it is again. I'm not allowed to have my own opinion. You guys try to find an explanation for me thinking different than you.

Common around here. Your opinion is different than mine therefore you are a) crazy b) lying c) a troll d) concussed in the head and not thinking clearly e) someone paid to say it was good.

Hey, you can like whatever you want to man, I just can't fathom how anyone with eyes could think this looks good.

There will be an audience for it but I doubt the audience will be enough to cover the budget.

The film has flop written all over it. Lions Gate are mostly crap at marketing their films.

Saw the trailer before Creed. Actually felt bad for Butler that his career has reached this kind of low.
