In these tough times we have to be grateful for the movie theaters in the lower class neighborhoods. I saw Toy Story 3 today...and only paid $5. And that was during the non-matinee hours. That's right. $5 during non-matinee hours. I shed a tear - a tear of joy. Sure...the seats are uncomfortable, no one has cleaned in a way, and the food may or may not be fresh...but as long as prices are low, the projector is good, and the sound system is fine then there's nothing to complain about.

So...has anyone else been enjoying the ghetto theaters lately? If so, share your experiences. Encourage others.

Where the **** do you live?

A city that inspired Will Smith to rap about it. But...don't get too excited. In the middle class/working class neighborhoods, tickets are already at $10.50. And that's just for 2D. 3D is out of control. $13-15 in some places.

$5? Where did you go Compton? I've been to Ghetto movie theaters for most of my life. It's only in the last few years i've started going to the up scale ones, since i now have a wife and children to be concerned about.

The Ghetto theaters are a haven for riff raff. Fights breaking out. A-holes shinning red beams on the screen, and talking loudly during the movie. Ppl putting their feet up on the back of your chair out of spite, i've had my share of them.............and no thanks!

Not that ghetto, man. If you're going to a movie theater with metal detectors then you're in the wrong place.

Bienvenido a Miami?

In West Philadelphia, Born and raised?:hehe:

there is this theater near my house where if you go before 10am the tickets are $4 a person.

We have a ghetto theater, filled with ghetto people on weekend nights.

It's not cheaper however. :(

For example, on A Nightmare on Elm Street we had ghetto people in the audience whining about no nudity, and threw a glass bottle at the end of the film.
Everyone else was happy and cheering, but it was that big group who ruined it.

I've never been to a ghetto theater but there is this one theater in Bakersfield which back in the 80's and 90's was pretty nice in a nice shopping center area. But now it's still nice but not as it used to since most of the surrounding stores had closed down (Circuit City, Mervyns).

But get this they show movies for mostly $1 and $2 dollars, but it's mostly the movies that leave good theaters in 6 months.

I actually exploit the pre-noon specials at my local theaters, and just go on Sat or Sun mornings. $6 bucks! Nothin' better, I tell ya.

My college town has an old Warner theater that shows everything for $5. They get small films that the big theaters don't (that's where I saw Moon and A Serious Man, for example) and bigger releases, after they've been in bigger theaters for awhile.

I graduated, though, so I won't be going there much anymore.

threw a glass bottle at the end of the film.

Maybe I shouldn't have used the word ghetto. So, let me re-phrase it. Old, run down theater in an old shopping center that's cheap.
