...Ok, so some of you who know me on these boards will have some kind of inclination that I like ska...heck I love the stuff. I'm partial to certain sub-genres more so than others but ska and reggae are two of my favourite genres of music (As well as my love for Punk of all kinds and not the crappy mainstream stuff either)

Well I thought I would design a thread to discuss anything and everything about the musicians, the scene, the music amongst anything related to the subject.

Great bands and artists:

Original wave: Bob Marley, Toots and the Maytals, Symarip,Desmond Dekker, Prince Buster, Byron Lee, Scratch "Lee" Perry

2 tone:The Specials, Bad Manners, Madness, The Selecter, The Beat

Third wave:Streetlight Manifesto, The Slackers, The Toasters, The Pietasters, The Big, Pama International

There are many many many more GREATS...but that's your job...come in and tell us what you like, what you hate, who've you've seen, who you'd like to...etc...

I've only seen The Pietasters and The Players, both are super awesome. The Mighty, Mighty Bosstones are a lot of fun, but I've never seen them.

classics of love - common rider.

great song, i think its ska... teacher gave me the song and he says its thier only good one. thats all for me.

I saw Streetlight Manifesto when I was in high school, they put on a good show

I'm seeing The Pietasters next Friday...I Can't wait!!!

The Pietasters, The Slackers and Pama International.

Bought the new album of each band. My god The Pietasters have changed their sound so much. Lost the punky/popness of their tracks and now they are simply reggae and soul. OLD SCHOOL, I love it.

Went to a Slackers signing last week in a great little record shop in Camden town in London. They did an hour (Felt like) Acoustic set. :woot:

That's great, I know you've been wanting to see them. Let me know how it goes and if you're not too trashed I'd love to know the set list.

Me Mom and Morgentaler were my faves. Big fan of old Planet Smashers and Kingpins too.

Well, I listen to The Specials, Bob Marley, Reel Big Fish, Operation Ivy, and King Tubby a lot.

Only recently have I found myself listening to king tubby. He's very cool. :)

the others...I've always loved. :)
