The last couple of years have seen a huge release in Godzilla films in DVD format - thank God for that, as some of my VHS tapes are getting kinda crappy.

Anywho, my question for all you fine folks out there - has there been any word on if they'll release a massive Godzilla DVD Collection? All the films together?

Considering 'Final Wars' was to be the last Godzilla film for 'awhile' I'm hoping they'll release an Uber-G collection.

So, again, any word?

there was one in japan that came inside a model of godzilla's head but it was extremely pricey

That looks pretty cool.

Well, with any luck they'll release one here.

Well, I know Sony will release at least 10 more editions of Crapzilla.

I'd buy more of the dvd's, but I have no idea which ones are unedited and have japanese subtitles.

I just know of 5 ones that have been released that are unedited and have the subtitles.

go to www.godzillaondvd.com. All the ones they have there, the new versions, have both the american versions, and the subtitled uncut japanese versions. I would expect a box set with these versions soon as they finish releasing all of the movies seperately.

I've got all the Godzilla Classics collection so far, and they're great! I know Ed Godziszewski, who does some of the commentary on the DVDs, and there will be more cool stuff to come.

I wish that they could release the unedited Japanese version of King Kong vs Godzilla, but since Universal owns that film due to Kong being in it, it can't be included in this DVD series.

yeah, I've been getting all of them too...I love the commentarys...I wonder why they put them on the american versions of the movies only seeing as everyone who does them just sort of...mocks how bad the american versions are in comparison to the originals.

Thats what I'm looking for. I'll check out the site though - thanks!

am i the only one who wishes more had commentarys i know a lot of " true" fans look down on American versions. but i actually enjoyed the commentary on godzilla 2000

Usually, if you compare the US cuts to the Japan/Toho cuts, the Japan versions are ultimately superior Godzilla films. But I'll never look down on the american versions. They are, after all, the Godzilla films I grew up with. I'll always have a certain fondness for them. As far as commentaries go, the ones I've listened to so far are great.

What ones have you listened to?

Let's see the Cloverfield monster, who looks suspiciously similar to Orga from Godzilla Millenium, have as much longevity as Godzilla.

The mangling of Godzilla Millenium is absolutely atrocious though. The only thing they did right was beef up Orga's roar to sound a little creepier than the Japanese version.

I didnt mind godzilla millenium..orga couldve been a bit better though a good movie.

So do we know if the guys who did the Classics collection are going to be going after the rights for any of the other Godzilla movies? Or are they done?

I used to be a huge godzilla fan, maybe not so much today, guess I out grew that stuff.
I think if i get any on dvd I'd get godzilla 2000(think this is the best looking godzilla imo),godzilla(98,new zilla),and maybe the original just for nastalgia reasons..

I'm still waiting for Godzilla 1985 to be released. I have the Japanese(The Return of Godzilla) version, but want the American one.

But many people believe that Japan got the look of Orga from The Rancor from Star Wars. So you really can't use that as one reason why Godzilla is much better then Cloverfield.

Godzilla was one of the pioneer in terms of monster and giant movie theme...
