sorry, i know these threads show up alot in the batman forums, but does anyone know of any good x-men graffic novels and could u please give a description as well?

God Loves, Man Kills: The X-treme X-Men story is mediocre, but it is worth it for the reprint of God Loves Man Kills.

Essential X-Men Volume 2: I'd recommend all of them if you're a big fan, but this volume contains things like the introduction of Kitty Pryde and the Dark Phoenix Saga.

Mutant Massacre: I don't know what the popular consensus is on this story but it has been one of my favorites since I read it. The first of many X-Men crossovers among the X-teams, involving the slaughter of morlocks and a fight down in the sewer with the Mauraders. One of the better crossovers.

I've heard good things about the Age of Apocalypse (they have been releasing the series in four books lately). I'm halfway through them myself and it is fun to read an alternate universe X-Men.

Ultimate X-Men Volume 1: A different universe, but Ultimate X-Men is a lot of fun. More fun than recent 616 X-Men IMO.

Astonishing X-Men Volume 1: Astonishing has been one of the better X-Men books lately. The plot for X3 was partially based on this book.

Any New X-Men TPB.

And by 'New' I mean both Grant Morrison's 'New X-Men' and the yongsters in 'New X-Men: Academy X'

Seconded. AoA is pretty good and I liked it. Also I am so happy they are releasing it in graphic novel form now.

aoa was the best crossover story x-men ever had. i don't think anything has come close to that. it really proved how much xavier was needed.

Not even some of the older Claremont stuff, Eli? Although I guess he'd have to wait with that till he gets immersed in the X-Men a little more.

eh, to me, that stuff's the classics, which it's good to appreciate, but compared to modern comics it's like comparing the film of a cinematic visionairy premeiring at Cannes to a movie shot by an 8 year old with a cam-corder

I can't say I agree. I much prefer the classics over some of the X-dreck that has come out over the last few years.

yeah, but Harle, I hate the X-Dreck from the past few years, too. I'm thinking more along the lines of stuff by Ellis and Cassiday, Morrison and Quitely, Millar and Hitch, stuff like that

Claremont had some very excellent concepts, story ideas that should be admired, but in execution they're just, well, a little boring compared to most things on the stands today.

Ah, ok, putting into a grander comics perspective. Yeah, it tends to hold up a lot less.
