So which do you think takes it this year?

I had a poll, but it kept screwing up because I was doing it on my tablet. Options were:

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Batman: Arkham Knight
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Halo 5: Guardians
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Fallout 4
Star Wars: Battlefront

What publication are we using to base the winner on? Or is it the AIAS? Or what do we think will be our own personal GOTY?

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate.

But no seriously, Fallout 4 would be my guess.

Consensus #1. Media and fans. But you can post your personal too.

I'm guessing Witcher 3.

Although, Fallout 4 and MGS V may give it a run for its money.

Fallout 4.

Maybe an honorable mention to Dishonored 2 but that's just a pipe dream. :p

I have no idea how we would achieve consensus, so I'll just go with the game I think I'll like the most, and that would be Metal Gear.

My personal GOTY will be probably be Batman Arkham Knight,Battlefront or Halo 5 but among awards, gamers and reviewers the nominees will probably be

Batman Arkham Knight
Fallout 4
Halo 5
Metal Gear Solid
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Star Wars Battlefront

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be my GOTY. The game screams masterpiece.
Fallout 4 drops out, since I'm a fan of the first two games and 3D Fallout games are nothing like those two gems.
Witcher 3 is a good contender, but significant portion of the content isn't even released yet. Plus bugs and clunky controls and little innovation after Witcher 2.
Arkham Knight drops out because of the broken PC release.
Hitman won't be even a contender. Trailer looked really weak.
Tomb Raider drops out too, because I'm not a juan user.

for me, it will probably be arkham knight or MGS V.

So far mine is definitely Arkham Knight. MGS V, Fallout, Battlefront, and Just Cause will have to work hard to take the number one spot.

I love that there are so many game of the year contenders this year. Last year it was a little dry. Really just Shadow of Mordor that stood out.

So many games have a shot this year, and they've been mentioned already so I won't bother.

As for new games, MGSV seems like a fresh and new take on the 'open-world' formula. Fallout 4 sounds massively ambitious.

The Witcher 3, Bloodborne and Arkham Knight are all critically acclaimed.

It's gonna be very interesting.

Witcher 3 and Bloodborne.

Arkham Knight will be regarded later on as a massive disappointment from it's lack of proper challange maps that we're on par with previous titles, the heavy focus on DLC that sacrifised their PC port money, etc.

Unless Fallout 4 causes an actual nuclear war through some wild course of outlandish events, I think I can say with confidence that it will be my personal game of the year.

I think that the GOTY will most likely come down between Witcher 3, Fallout 4, and Batman: Arkham Knight. Metal Gear Solid V, Star Wars: Battlefront, and Halo 5 will get great reviews no doubt, but I don't think that they have a prayer against those three.

It really is stunning that there are 7 legitimate contenders this year. 2013 was just 2 between TLOU and GTAV. If I had to pick one though, I'm thinking MGSV. It's the end of a legendary franchise and the gameplay, open world, visuals, and story shown so far just make it seem like the pinnacle of gaming this year.

I don't think Arkham Knight will have as strong a chance as its predecessors from the same studio.
