I was just curious about all the games we voted as the best in the past, so I looked up all the threads and here are the top three of each year in order.

2008:

1. Metal Gear Solid 4
2. Grand Theft Auto IV
3. Fallout 3

2009:

1. Batman: Arkham Asylum
2. Uncharted 2
3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

2010:

1. Red Dead Redemption
2. Mass Effect 2
3. God of War III

2011:

1. Batman: Arkham City
2. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
3. Uncharted 3

2012:

1. The Walking Dead / XCOM: Enemy Unknown (tie)
2. Halo 4
3. Mass Effect 3 / Assassin's Creed III (tie)

2013:

1. Grand Theft Auto V
2. The Last of US
3. Bioshock Infinite

2014:

1. Dragon Age: Inquisition
2. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
3. Alien: Isolation

What do you think? Looking back, do you still feel like those are the best games from their respective years?

It's really depressing to see the total number of pages/votes/members in each thread dwindle every year. :/

Most of the results are pretty predictable, with the exception of 2012. It's heartening to see innovation and overall lesser-played titles won out over the big shoot 'em ups and RPGs.

Surprised Arkham City beat out Skyrim. But that's the predominant fanbase of this site I guess.

Skyrim over City, but I can understand why it won due to it's fanbase. Still, Skyrim is just a colossal game.
