I'd not seen this yet - had anyone else? It was on Slashdot.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...ndemn-plans-to-ban-erotic-comics-1652270.html

"Graphic artists, publishers and MPs have condemned the UK's Coroners and Justice Bill, which will criminalize possession of sexual depictions that appear to show someone under 18 (the age of consent is 16 in the UK), as well as adults where the 'predominant impression conveyed' is of someone under 18, and even if they are merely drawn as being present whilst sexual activity took place between adults. The definitions could include Lost Girls, Watchmen, and South Park. The Comic Book Alliance has launched a petition against the law."

From the article:
There are even fears that Watchmen, one of the industry's most critically acclaimed graphic novels, could risk being banned because one of the main superheroes sees his mother having sex when he is a young child.
This country's going to pot :csad:

Good...comics weren't made for that sort of thing anyway. I was extremely shocked a few years ago when I picked up an issue of x-men (a childhood favorite) after years of not reading it, just to open it up and see two underage mutants having sex, swearing and getting trashed off whiskey.

Tell the stories, don't show the sex...it's stupid.

You quoted that and edited out the reason I posted it though

EDIT - I agree with what you say and the example you gave, but theres extents to which you should take it.

Comics are a medium, they can be used for any sort of thing.

thats kind of a narrow minded view, unless it's child porn there is nothing wrong with sex in comics as long as it adds to the story

this is a bad idea as it can lead to other things such as violence etc, with a select few deciding what the masses should and shouldn't be exposed to

what kind of a gov does the UK have? Seriously, the rules under the ban are so vague that it's completely unfair.

Watchmen seems like a bit of a stretch since young Walter Korvac wasn't engaging in anything sexual during the flashback.

Seriously, I haven't considered comic books to be children's literature in years.

I thought Lost Girls was already banned in the UK because it portrayed Wendy getting her ******* on.

Anyway, when did the UK start to become comparatively more sexually repressed than the US?

That falls under this part "...and even if they are merely drawn as being present whilst sexual activity took place between adults."

Like kids have never walked in when their parents were doing it
