Ok, I bought this game today for 20 bucks for PS2.
I don't like it that much. It is basically a newer version of GTA 3 with below-average graphics. I'll have to give it some time, but i still ain't liking it.

Did anyone else buy the PS2 version and dislike it?

No wonder it was 20 bucks. The only great thing about it, so far, is the music.

That's because it's a dumbed down port of a Playstation Portable game. Of course it is going to be crap. The Playstation Portable version however, rocks!

yea, I just can't get into the missions...and the voice acting for Tony sucks ass.

Yep.
It sucks. I don't want to play the game anymore, and thank God it was 20 bucks.

That's what you get for playing a dumbed down Playstation Portable port. Honestly if something was ported from the Playstation Portable and actually got dumbed down instead of having any extras, of course it is going to suck major ass.

Thank god. I've got two ginormous paychecks burning in my pocket. I went to blow some cash on a game, thought about getting it, but then thought, "I'll bet the graphics suck, just wait for the next-gen one, or you'll end up with another game you never play that you bought for $20 and can sell back for $3."

I'm glad your folly acted as confirmation.

I even hated that game on PSP :o It's just impossible to go from SA's awesomness to that... Snoozefest. :down

I MAY have to give Vice City Stories a chance, simply because I loved Vice City over all the other games, including SA (I really don't care about "thugg lyfe" and all that crap).

Liberty City stories isn't all that bad. The story missions are fun and it was only $30 for me (Canada).

Liberty city stories is a great game on the psp. To this day, it's still really fun to play, and the voice acting is as good as in RDR, since it's the same actor.

Haha, what a random thread to bump. I was really curious about why there was a thread about a 9-year-old PS2 game (and knew something was up when I saw a Wilhelm-Scream post!).

Also, I totally had the port of this. Moderately fun, but it was after games like "Vice City" and "San Andreas" had come out and we had gotten a taste of more detailed GTA games.

I had played it a few years ago on the psp, and since I didn't get my infamous/ps4 bundle in time, I bought it on the vita, since it only costs 5 bucks, and I really have a good time with it even after having played GTA5. Granted, it's not as good as the other games, but it feels great to wander in the gta world on a handheld!
