Hal Jordan (GL) officially out of the running for a WB film?

I didnt say he was. Hence the question mark in the title.

But its open for discussion.

Stewart probably is the more JLA associated Lantern right now due to the show.

He's what the younger generation of fans know as Green Lantern and they want the film to have some urban appeal.

That supposedly our generation is only familiar with John Stewart as the face of GL and WB wants to make money by catering to 'urban demographics'

because John Stewart is African-American. Like I said in previous posts, there aren't too many African-American superheroes, so if there is a black superhero version, producers will go for it. Plus, it will make more money this way as well.

I really wouldn't put any credibility into these guys anymore, they've blown all of it :down. If the script is good, or the cast of characters interesting enough you could see a Hal Jordan film. Frankly this JLA project seems to have collasped under it's own weight...I don't even think it'll happen anymore.

That's the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time. If WB wants to make Hal Jordan or Kyle Rayner African-American on film, that's fine. But I see no point in using a less-interesting, less versatile character just because he's black.

Well technically that's what they did in Justice League. Took Hal Jordan and made him black.

John Stewart was almost nothing like Hal Jordan in the cartoon. He was just a Green Lantern with a half-ass "attitude". There's more to Hal than the military angle.

I don't think he's lame or boring, but compared to Hal and Kyle, or even Guy Gardner, there just aren't that many interesting angles to him. John is great when he's in a story about himself, but in a film like JLA, I think both the character and the film would suffer for it.

I don't think we'll see Jordan now in a film UNLESS they go with a Green Lantern Corp film..or even just a solo GL film with Jon that FEATURES other Lanterns in supporting roles.

I don't mind this...actually John Steward is one of my favorite Lanterns.

I think it should start off as hal, then progress from there, ending in the third film (if there is one) with J.S.

urban = black?

Interesting...lol

Anyway, I'm black and I dont neccessarily appreciate how John Stewart is being forced down the public's throat.

If you're only incorporating Stewart as a "token" black, And not because he's a dynamic and interesting GL, your intentions are wrong to begin with...

I'll tell you from firsthand experience, The "urban" demographic doesnt give two squirts of piss about GL, Much less John Stewart. GL isnt even relevant to the mainstream public.

You don't kick off the Spiderman franchise with Ben Reilly...You don't jumpstart the Batman franchise with Azrael...It's stupid.

Hal Jordan is THEE iconic GL...He's been given the shaft repeatedly when it comes to media other than comics.

.

Neither was Blade until they put Wesley Snipes behind the fangs. I'd expect similar type name casting with GL in the JLA film.

The JL cartoon version of John Stewart was like Samuel Jackson with a power ring. I can't see them pulling that off in this movie..
