So, apparently, a French indie game development company is working as we speak on a Halloween based video game. They don't officially have the license yet but they've already begun their work on it & have announced it via their Twitter. Here's a full breakdown right here:

Personally, as a massive Halloween fan I'm overly excited about this prospect and I'm hoping they can see this thing through & we can get a fully finished and polished product.

Like I always figured, it'll be very similar to the F13 game but I'm cool with that so long as I'm able to play as the Shape in the way I always imagined (scaring the hell out of people and getting some cool kills at the same time). Not to mention that even though a lot of people aren't a fan of it, if it can be done I think it'd be a lot of fun to play around as Rob Zombie's rendition of the character, hobo beard and all. Plus, it's always fun to have the advent of being able to play as Laurie Strode in a game considering without her we wouldn't look at the "final girl" of horror movies the way we do today. Not to mention if this thing pans out and they get the license, unlike Dead by Daylight, we'll be able to get the character actually resembling Jamie Lee Curtis which is cool as hell to just even think about.

I think maybe they're jumping the gun in talking about DLC already but man, I cannot wait to see what becomes of this. First a new movie following after the original and now a game? Man, it's a great time to be a Halloween fan. :woot:

I too am a massive Halloween fan so I would very much be down for this. A F13th game style for Myers I would have a blast with.

Also the YouTube link you posted isn’t working

This would be a 'dream' game for me, obviously much to work on in this frame of reference before we get there but its good news all the same. If Jason can get his own game, then Michael should too. The F13th game isn't 'great' but it's ideas and structure are solid and would work in a H'ween context for sure.

Base the game on the original '78 concept and you could expand it from there by way of a ultimate face off between Laurie & Michael. Switching character roles would be neat as well, or indeed, make it like the Alien / Predator / Marine PS3 game where they told the story from 3 points of view and include Loomis as a character and have you work out clues to the whereabouts of Michael.

Yeah, I really liked the direction the F13 game went with the gameplay, the game was a buggy, inconsistent mess and the developers were in way over their heads, but the basic concept of the gameplay was on point and made it far more fun to me than a game like Dead by Daylight, which I disliked the fundamental mechanics of despite it being far more polished. I'll be interested to see what the gameplay ends up looking like, assuming it actually happens. I really hope it does work out though, since the F13 game has been effectively killed by the franchises legal issues, and the devs have clearly abandoned patching the game, I need a good slasher game to fill the void.

Always risky to try this without first securing the rights. Hope it works out.

I'm not the biggest Halloween fan but I'm interested.

Announcing the game before you have the rights leads to disappointment.

Sometimes. But if they produce a good enough project that proves they deserve the license, then I'm sure it'll all work out amicably.

They've claimed they want to capitalize on areas the F13 game didn't and I'm really curious what they mean by that and what they plan to do differently. On their Twitter I've seen that they've answered as many questions as they can and while they've admitted the F13 game is a big influence, they want to make it as different as they can so we'll see how it goes on that front.

On their Twitter there was also a mention of using Dr. Loomis as a hero character just like Laurie will be if they can obtain the rights to do so and the Pleasence family is okay with it. And their expectation, apparently, is to be able to obtain said license in 2019.

Hope they're right about that.

I regret to inform everyone it seems that this may have been a scam. Apparently one of the artists working on the project went on a Twitter rant about how he wasn't being paid and then the "devs" went ahead and deleted literally all of their pages. They made no attempt to defend themselves, they just simply deleted everything right away.

So that's that I guess.

Not surprised.

Always be wary of a company that touts something they can't actually make yet. Kickstarter has been quite educational.
