Comic Characters you want a game based around

For most good superhero games it seems like you have to limit your freedom. Look at arkham asylum, it was an awesome game. I dont think it would have been if you were able to run around Gotham as you please.

Punisher - Gameplay similar to Gears of War or Splinter Cell Conviction, either go in guns blazing or pick enemies off one by one

The one for PS2 and Xbox was awesome! You could go in guns blazing or use quick kills and stealth.

The one for PS2 and Xbox let you go in shooting or use stealth and quick kills. It was awesome :unishr:

Flash also had a cancelled game apperently.

That doesn't look too bad. With Flash they should make something like Sonic Adventure where you're fast normally but you can get upgrades to get light speed. With the light speed you don't have to control it, you just hold a button and follow a path like when Sonic got those special shoes.

There are a ton of Anime games that prove otherwise.

How about you mention some examples for us anime-ignorant gamers. And make sure they're 3D and semi-free roam so a future Superman game could use them as a template.

There are mainly 2 very good examples.

1) Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner

You play a Mecha that can fly at high speeds, has several different abilities, super-strength obviously, can bash enemies with steel girders or abuse opponents as either a shield or weapon. Just put Superman in place of the Mecha.

2) Dragonball Tenkaichi/Raging Blast.

This pretty much shows you how well combat works with characters that come with all the qualities that Superman possesses.

As for the free-roam, if I were to make the game, I'd probably scrap that entirely. Instead I'd write a good and tight story, though linear, would be a total rollercoaster ride. With lots of scripted scenarios and quicktime events. Like Uncharted or God of War.

Make good use of his ridiculous abilities and power, instead of putting him into a sandbox Metropolis, where we can't cause too much collateral damage.

Obviously a Deadpool game, that would just be really fun.

For my personal tastes, a free Roam Punisher game like a cross between crackdown and the 2005 game, with story done by Garth Ennis.

Also, a free Roam Wolverine game set in Japan. That would just be all kinds of awesome. I'm thinking like Yakuza 3 except less crazy and Japanese and with Wolverine etc.

Also, my absolute dream game that I know will never happen, is a free roam multiplayer superhero game, like The Avengers, with say 4 player co-op, one person as Cap, one as Thor, Iron Man and Hulk.... or even do that with X-Men or my personal favourite idea, Marvel Knights. That would truly make my LIFE. All i've wanted is a deep immersive game that properly emulates that great marvel team up feel, like where Spidey is in the middle of fighting some thugs and then Daredevil jumps in from the left, taking out a dude, followed by some awesome, in depth, back to back fighting.

M:UA was like a really basic, shallow stab at that feel, but it just wasn't enough. Imagine how cool that could be!

I've been craving for a GOOD Fantastic Four game. They have the potential for some memorable levels, like the New York streets, the center of the Earth, outer space, other planets, the Negative Zone, other dimensions, time-travel, and of course, a raid in Castle Doom in Latveria.

Deadpool is also overdue for his own video game.

I'm so with you on this one. I've been wanting a great co-op game for a long time. A game where team-work really is key. I wouldn't care what group they base the game on JLA, Avengers, Teen Titans, X-Men, etc.

It should be semi-freeroam and maybe combine DCUO with Mass Effect. After watching Young Justice Drop Zone, I just couldn't stop to imagine what a proper Superhero Team game could be like.

Was it any good?

Super easy and repetitive. But fun for a short time.

All of them? Lol.

Of those mentioned, I would love to see a Heavy-rain styled superhero game, especially for someone like Green Arrow (adding in a FPS element, I know) or the Question. It is potentially possible to use that same control style for a character with more movement potential, but level design would have to be completely overhauled, and you'd lose a lot of the detail that makes HR worth it in the first place.

The team up game you describe, I'd also go for a great deal.

Heroes I'd love to see have their own Games:

Wonder Woman - Done in a God of War style action in both ancient and modern day with an even bigger scale and a whole lot of cheesecake thrown in.

The Flash[b/] - In the spirit of Sonic Adventure, a battle racer of sorts, with the levels aka tracks between small free roam areas for story and boss battle purposes.

New/Astonishing X-Men - Three essential elements to making my ideal superhero game: 1) Multiplayer Co-op 2) Third person action adventure (as opposed to the four on one screen top down view of MUA) 3) Each character capable of carrying a solo game, that is, deep, with combos, abilities, etc. When four to eight players team up, you have something epic. I think I saw a similar ideal game earlier.

Superman - Something groundbreaking to make it all come together, but it needs to happen.

Squirrel Girl. Army of squirrels attack based on some meter and puzzle like boss battles where you discover the enemies weakness based on the situation or objects at hand.

With M:UA, I would often go through the game with one character instead of four (bringing up an extra only when I needed it to open a door or a puzzle) in order to simulate what a solo game for that character would be like.

I did this with Cap, Daredevil & Thor. It was fun, and a lot more challenging than having a team of four.

Moon Knight would be awesome

I'd still love to see Rockstar put together a GTA game where you play as an up and coming criminal on the mean streets of Gotham City.
