Happy Birthday thesonofbat...

Man, I wish I had it that easy. My 5 year old daughter is 700 miles away, and I simply can't make it out there every weekend. And since Mom and I don't get along as well, I can't just say "Oh, I'd like to take her for the summer" or whatever. I don't even really get the chance to talk to her as often as I'd like.

Not to make light of your situation, of course. Just be glad it's not worse. :yay:

Man there is nothing worse than parents who use their kids as some kind of revenge tool after a divorce. If courts monitored the home environment after a divorce or even asked the kid who they wanted to go with half the custody cases today would be reversed.

Any parent that can use their kid as a way to get back at someone like that doesn't deserve kids :csad:

I didn't know there was any 8 year olds here. In fact I didn't know there was anyone younger than me.
Oh no, I've said too much. :ninja:

Happy Birthday!

Only a couple more years until he can play fantasy hockey with his dad and lose to me. Oh and I hope he loves USM and isn't interested in ASM ;)

For his birthday present I sent him the full run of Marville and Trouble. Happy Birthday!

If anyone cares, I just finished my nightly phone call with him...

He feels pretty good about turning 8 years old (one of the main reasons was because I started collecting comics at 8 years old, so he feels he can buy his own as well... poor kid, comics were 25 cents when I was 8 :csad: )

He's having a little party with his mom's family and he had a pretty decent day. They gave him some pencils and stuff at school, which he liked, and he got a kick outa the ecard I sent him.

Just thought you'd all like to know.

Man... I really miss my kid. :csad:

And once again, I really appreciate the stickey. :word:

:yay:
I'm glad he's having a good day.

He deserves a sticky more than these other ungrateful cynical nattering nabobs of negativism.

Hope you get to see him soon.

What the hell, man? :csad:

Sorry about your situation, Drakon :csad:

When I was younger, my dad would drive from Chicago to where I live, about a 3 hour drive. Every other weekend. I am truly grateful for it, and he is a great dad.

I'm sure you would do the same if you could, pal.

He is a true Spider-Man ambassador...

He likes them both the same... :word:

Ugh man, TMOB, sorry I missed this thread yesterday.

Happy B-Day little man. My Happy Birthday to you means more than these other people's because I'm in your dad's little circle of hype friends. Usually I say it's MY circle of friends, but it's your birthday, so whatever. Your dad rules me. I guess.

For those oldbies that remember that terrible time in the summer of 2003, they know my history with my kid.

It's been over 3 years now, and I still drive 100 miles to get him every Friday afternoons, drive back 100 miles to bring him to my house, and then I drive the same 100 miles on Sunday afternoons to bring him back and then I come back home.

I've never missed my weekends with him (I get him 3 out of every 4 weekends) as well as a week in March break & X-Mas, and then every other week during the summer months (which is a nice break to all the driving).

I saw my useless lawyer last year and she was surprised that I hadn't missed my weekends after 2 years.... as if I was just going to quit on him. He's my son and I love him. Sure, the drives are tiring... but what else am I supposed to do? Give up??? No way.

I think he knows how I feel, but then again... do 8 year olds REALLY appreciate & understand the sacrifices of parents?

He's a good kid....
UGH. Man, I'd hope you can just, like, understand that I empathize with you. I'd like to type up something with a little more emotion but I'd just end up making some stupid, inappropriate joke. Sodomy clay and bodily fluid paint--these are the only artistic materials I have to express myself. So, I'm passing on this one. That's like, the most decent thing I can do.
