Has anyone seen these films?

I love the French New Wave...too bad Tarantino tends to steal away from it. But who wouldn't? It's groundbreaking work from the 60s.

-Bad Education

-Talk to Her (to be fair, I only cared about the GTS conent in that movie. I couldn't give a rat's ass about anything else)

-All About my Mother

I've seen Oldboy, The Machinist, and half of Ichi the Killer.

The Machinist
Kids
Sympathy for Mr Vengence
Ichi the Killer

They're mostly foreign films, becuase most of the world is foreign! There's roughly representative amounts of american and UK films, as well as the foreign films. People seem to think that hollywood is all there is in film, but Korea is the fastest growing film industry and is the third largest, hollywood being second, and bollywood being first.

But you only included films that you have seen, how about including films that others have seen and and you have not?
Such as Rashomon or Spirited Away.(not sure if you have, just suggesting them.)

The films I am including are generally unknown films, that film critics and buffs generally recommend as some of the most important films ever made. It's partly my list, but also been bouincing idea's of some film criticy freinds of mine.

LIST PART 2 (05/08/06)

In the mood for love
Brazil
Dark City
Zatoichi (Remake or Original? I've seen the Remake)

You do realize this is nothing more than a showy exercize to flex your ego? I mean this thread is a pitiful, there's not one bit of real movie discussion or promotion of thoughts, other than your opinion is superior because you've a range of obscure films... WooWho... But to be honest most of hte movies you listed I'll probably see in the next 2 months since I'm nearing the end of all the movies I need to see for American Cinema... Also where the hell is "Akira Kurosawa's Dreams" which is one of my favorite films.

That's what I was thinking too(since he joined actually).
You have such high taste that it makes us all look like inferior neanderthals.

I'm just recommending films that the critical film community regards in high esteem or as important. A lot of people have said they're gonna see these films now, so is it really a bad thing?

I don't think he realizes the sheer amount of films America has released since the first official feature length film in 1918, and his complete disreguard for american classics is pitiful as well, is there any Film-Noir or Monster flicks on that list?

Film noir?? Double indemnity, dead reckoning, in a lonely place, kiss me deadly, M, obsession, nightmare alley, the lost weekend, dark corner, dark passage

What film community, while I've heard of most of these films and plan on seeing quite a bit, you realize that I created similar threads devoid of the pomp, condescention, or jerking off to myself... Let me point you to two of them:

The second thread soon to be bumped...

M is the beginnings of it, and Double Indemnity I've yet seen since it's release on DVD comes august 22nd... As for the others I'll apologize for my ignorance...

Okies, I didn't see them, If the thread annoys you, don't write in it! I'm just giving recommendations of key films, and the critic community is a group of us from southhampton, brighton and Reading, including cirtics like Nada Al-sanjari etc.

Nope, I don't see any.
Many people my age have never even seen Casablanca, Mr. Smith goes to Washington, not even Forbidden Planet or The Day the Earth Stood Still. Why aren't they on the list?

Casablanca is an obvious one, as is the day the earth stood still, Alos is forbidden planet, i'm trying to suggest films that are less known, these films could quite easily be on some sunday afternoon, or on the sci-fi channel, yet 8 1/2, i think, hasn't beenn on terrestrial TV in the last 10 years at least!

I wish.
I've never seen them on tv. EVER, unless you count TCM, which isn't on basic cable.
