yeah...this was awesome.

i mean, honestly, other than the lead up, the final confrontation wasnt anything all that spectacular, but the characters delivered so hard that i gotta love it. that last scene was the best.

I really liked how both Marty and Cohle lived in the end. I was sooo sure that Cohle was going to die as they seemed to be building up to it but its nice they got a happy ending and it seems Cohle has a new lease on life. Maybe now he won't be so damn morose and metaphysical all the time .

That would have put Marty in a vendetta mood and would have thrown the last episode out of balance. This is a detective story at it's center, not a revenge story. I'm OK with it not being there, same with the others from the cult. Rust and Marty set the wheels in motion to bring everyone down.

What's makes their inclusion random? Are you referring to the older daughter acting out and getting caught with those 2 boys? They were showing Marty's home life and the things he was dealing with.
