HBO's True Detective

How about we get Denzel in on the action? I'd like to see him do something like this. Him and Anthony Mackie or Idris Elba in New Orleans or LA.

Well, I think I'm going to avoid this thread for a while if it's going to be nothing but people's awful suggestions for the lead roles.

Hope we do get Rust and Marty books one day with extremely descriptive Marty Hart sex scenes.

I don't get the love for this show at all. I couldn't even get through the second episode without falling asleep.

Just kidding. Could you imagine?

Yep. Different strokes...

Yeah let's not give True Detective fans a bad name like some BB fans have done. They are both shows I love but if someone doesn't like either of them it's not something that has to be "corrected" or something?

Hey, my sister in law had this problem for real. I was like, what is wrong with you? We like all the same other shows, but she just couldn't get through this one. Oh well. :p

Sean Penn teamed with Joseph Gordan-Levitt or Ryan Gosling

I don't wanna see JGL or Gosling necessarily but Sean Penn, HELL YEA! Great choice there! I still think Forest Whitaker and Glenn Close would be amazing but either would be insanely great with Sean Penn. Just watched Mystic River again a few weeks ago so I'm gonna go ahead and throw Tim Robbins in there too. Jeff Bridges too. If its both females I still say Toni Colette and Tea Leoni though.

Loved the finale. The sheriff going ape **** when they were blackmailing him was funny as hell.

I admire how the writer/director combo managed to take the case Hart and Cohle were working on from being mildly disturbing with a hint of dread at the beginning of the season to being soul-chillingly unsettling by the end.

I don't think I missed anything, but the video Woody watched... we're just supposed to make our own f'ed up assumptions right?

Yes. Basically let your mind imagine how ****ed up the video was. Love that idea of doing things. Not everything needs to be shown or explained, keeping some things off screen and unknown works just as or if not more effectively.

What we saw of the video was enough to creep the **** out of me. Even before Marty shows his horror and disgust, just seeing the guy's in their costumes leading the girl out was like "**** this ****, this isn't right."

The 'inside the episode' episode revealed that it was simply a child sacrifice. What they actually did, i.e rape, mutilate, etc, yes, is up to the viewer.

I'm more curious as to what Childress was doing to that guy he had strapped down to his bed...

That was his father who caused him to become scarred and I guess abused him as a child. That was Errol's way of taking revenge on him for all the mistreatment.

LOL. I'm amazed at some of the awful suggestions I've read so far. Now all of a sudden, it's like every "big name" actor would be perfect for True Detective.

Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke!
Tom Hanks and Richard Dreyfuss!
Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas!
Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett!

Have to say looking forward to the blu ray release and the extras if should contain. Especially directors commentary .

CBS' (Elementary) Sherlock and BBC's Sherlock

I would love a Rust and Marty True Detective continuation in comic book form

Basically anyone from the cast of 44 Inch Chest and Sexy Beast would be welcomed addition, as any character

And don't forget the ever popular Cranston and Paul.

The only good suggestion I saw was James Woods and someone else that I can't remember. James Woods is PERFECT for this show.
