Headshot

I hope it's a wide release.

Just read that this will be available in the UK on March 3rd also. Selected cinemas and able to purchase on Sky Store.

My review

It's a decent Indonesian action film that tries its best to be like the Raid movies. So much so that they even got Iko Uwais and Julie Estelle to be in it. Gareth Evans didn't direct this and it shows. While the action is really brutal for the most part, the story is pretty generic. There's some nice fighting choreography and at times the cinematography looks fantastic. There's more gunplay than actual hand to hand combat which was kinda disappointment. Despite all of its faults, it's still better than your usual action movie. For me this is kinda on par with the John Wick films, but it's still no Raid or Raid 2.
8/10

Basically it's decent like the John Wick movies but it's no Raid or Raid 2.

It's currently streaming on Netflix, fyi.

Julie Estelle warrants more english speaking roles, mayne. Hard not to speak racism when she has the looks and can act, but no goddamn opportunity like the rest.

Action sequences are not as crisp compare to the other films in the genre, but still way better than most hollywood bs fight scenes. The intro to this film alone puts most hollywood action scenes to shame. The love story is paper thin and lame af, but you do not see these films for the love story anyway. Still a good time. 8/10

The opening of this movie felt like something you'd see in the Arkham games.

I'm waiting for Julie Estelle to make a movie over here in the states. She's got charisma all over.

She really does. I see a lot of calls for Cheetah to be the villain in Wonder Woman 2... that would be a perfect role for Julie.

Sofia Boutella for Cheetah! :D

Also a great choice. I'd be happy with Sofia as well.

Anyway, regarding Headshot... I loved the movie; it was like a mashup of The Bourne Identity and Kill Bill with superior fight choreography. One thing I'm not clear on though is [BLACKOUT] exactly what happened to Ishmael. We see that Lee is caught by police, and around that time, Ishmael gets shot in the head. They say he betrayed him, so I guess he tipped off the cops. But was there something specific that made him have a change of heart? In Bourne, Jason snaps out of assassin mode when he realizes he's about to kill a man in front of his son. I guess I was waiting for a scene like this and we didn't get one. [/BLACKOUT]
