So, trying to decide the best place to start my digital movie collection (I’m ditching physical media…I figure I’ve ditched it with everything else, may as well ditch the discs for movies too)

I’m trying to decide between VUDU and Amazon. I’m looking for 1080P video and 5.1 surround. I THINK both of those provide that but not sure…which do you all prefer? (Don’t bother saying something like “Neither. I prefer Blu-ray” or “It’s physical media for me only!!!” Because that’s pointless to comment on)

:)

i will say that i prefer physical media, but i do know a lot of people who prefer VUDU

If you have at least one Apple product, you could consider buying off itunes. I don't buy movies there, just music.

Xbox sells movies / tv series too, but not something I'd recommend strongly.

I would recommend Amazon since their ecosystem is pretty good and they're taking over the world. You can use their apps on many products (tablets, phones, PCs)

For your value, Amazon is the better purchase. You get streaming tv/movies like Netflix, you can rent, and you can buy movies, plus you get Prime status which is pretty great. They're still relatively small in terms of selection, but are getting there very quickly.

Agreed, I just got Amazon Fire TV since I already had Prime....their interface is pretty convenient, quick, much better streaming box than Roku. Even though I like Apple, I was hesitant getting Apple TV since they don't seem to like putting 'competitor' apps on their system.
