High school b-ball girls team coach is fired for 100-0 win

God this nation is becoming a nation of *****es:o

Becoming? That would have been in the 90s and Clint called it.

The article says...
Dallas Academy has eight girls on its varsity team and about 20 girls in its high school. It is winless over the last four seasons. The academy boasts of its small class sizes and specializes in teaching students struggling with "learning differences," such as short attention spans or dyslexia.

What kind of high school only has 20 students? That basketball game should have never taken place to begin with if Dallas Academy wanted to spare its students' self-esteem.

Thank you Doc Connor:up:

because the score of 100 -nil is less embarassing that having the other team bounce the ball out of reach of you for the entire game or giving you pity goals

"It is shameful and an embarrassment that this happened. This clearly does not reflect a Christlike and honorable approach to competition," said the statement, signed by Queal and board chair Todd Doshier.

The girls one by a large spread so it's shameful? Wouldn't it be more shameful for the coach to tell his girls to "take it easy" on the other team? Wouldn't it be more embarassing to play against at team that wasn't trying and was just goofing off?

This is the most utter BS I've heard all day long.

It's called sportsmanship. Though yeah, I'm honestly not seeing the big deal over it.

Too me good sportsmanship does not including playing poorly just to make the other team feel better.

How does a basketball team score nothing?

Even 5 year olds in a church league get a layup every now and then

Isn't there a thing called Mercy after one team gets so many points?

The score was 100-0. I think after the oh, about 70-80 mark, they're expected to ease up. Has nothing to do with intentionally playing poorly in a complete stomp-out like this.

Hell, even in the NBA, when a team keeps "playing good" in the last 5 or 6 minutes of a game when they're winning by over 20 points...that's looked down upon.

The other team has the right to forfeit a game, and in doing so they make the score an automatic 1-0 for the other team. If the coach of the losing team wanted to spare her students why didn't she call the game when it was clear they would lose?

She's just spinning on the ball!!!

Just take it!!!

If I was coach this what I would have told my players

Khitan General: We have won again. This is good! But what is best in life?
Khitan Warrior: The open steppe, a fleet horse, falcons at your wrist, and the wind in your hair.
Khitan General: Wrong! Conan, what is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women!
Khitan General: That is good.

Bah keep your foot on the throat like my old bb coach told me in middle school:o

This team was nearly 60 points ahead half-way through the game. To play half the game half-assed just seems in poor taste. I mean to say that not "taking it easy" isn't shameful and embarassing. It isn't even wrong. I think for the coach to have done anything else other than what he did would've been bad.

Umm...shouldn't the OTHER team's coach be fired?

True that!

In the NBA when a team is winning by over 20 points that late in the game, they put in their bench, to avoid their starters getting injured.

I can't believe this coach was fired for winning. WTF?!?! Shouldn't it be the losing team's coach that got fired, he/she couldn't even coach the girls to score one basket, c'mon, that's just awful.
