Dallas Academy has eight girls on its varsity team and about 20 girls in its high school. It is winless over the last four seasons. The academy boasts of its small class sizes and specializes in teaching students struggling with "learning differences," such as short attention spans or dyslexia.
The article says...
What kind of high school only has 20 students? That basketball game should have never taken place to begin with if Dallas Academy wanted to spare its students' self-esteem.
"It is shameful and an embarrassment that this happened. This clearly does not reflect a Christlike and honorable approach to competition," said the statement, signed by Queal and board chair Todd Doshier.
too me good sportsmanship does not including playing poorly just to make the other team feel better.
The score was 100-0. I think after the oh, about 70-80 mark, they're expected to ease up. Has nothing to do with intentionally playing poorly in a complete stomp-out like this.Too me good sportsmanship does not including playing poorly just to make the other team feel better.
Isn't there a thing called Mercy after one team gets so many points?

Hell, even in the NBA, when a team keeps "playing good" in the last 5 or 6 minutes of a game when they're winning by over 20 points...that's looked down upon.

The other team has the right to forfeit a game, and in doing so they make the score an automatic 1-0 for the other team. If the coach of the losing team wanted to spare her students why didn't she call the game when it was clear they would lose?

In the NBA when a team is winning by over 20 points that late in the game, they put in their bench, to avoid their starters getting injured.
I can't believe this coach was fired for winning. WTF?!?! Shouldn't it be the losing team's coach that got fired, he/she couldn't even coach the girls to score one basket, c'mon, that's just awful.
