I'm binge (re)watching Asian horror atm and it struck me that mockbuster studio The Asylum never tried its hand at J-horror. The effects for a basic Ring/Grudge ripoff kind of movie could be done pretty cheaply (skinny girl with long black hair and pale skin, and you're good to go).
Any thoughts why? I would have thought it was tailor-made for them. They certainly jumped into the 'found footage' craze pretty damned quickly.
